Yes, you can do this although I'm undecided about whether or not one
should do this...

I'm undecided also, becouse if my spacewalk server goes down I
immediately can see it.

I only want monitoring about disk usage.

I've done this, but don't run osad on the server, and don't allow
configuration/remote commands on the spacewalk server. Has worked fine for
me.

[Spacewalk-list] Spacewalk Client Install on Solaris 10

2010-10-06 Thread spopov

Hi

I've installed the spacewalk client on Solaris 10, but attempts to register to
the spacewalk server fail. Hopefully someone will tell me what very small
thing I have to do to make this work. Here are the details

1 a)The error registering the Solaris10 client

Re: [Spacewalk-list] Spacewalk Client Install on Solaris 10

2010-10-06 Thread Lopez, Abel
Try this:
export
PATH=/opt/redhat/rhn/solaris/bin:/opt/redhat/rhn/solaris/usr/bin:/opt/redhat/rhn/solaris/usr/sbin:$PATH

I was having the same issue because the scripts were calling the native python.
Once I put the redhat directories first in my path, it worked fine.
I put this in a file that I source only when I'm going to work with rhn on
solaris.

Yes. You can do it and it is quite common scenario.

I wrote many moons ago a kbase article for Red Hat on this setup - if
you have a paid Satellite or RHEL subscription you should be able to
login to the knowledgebase and look it up for more details. It can be
done. For monitoring, use the Satellite/Spacewalk monitoring probes only
and not the entire monitoring probe suite. Osad doesn't work and few
other things, but osad and monitoring were top of the list.
