Hi Jay,

You might want to try out the updated rpm.rpmstrcmp stored procedure in
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1661347

I submitted that bug and the proposed fix (for PostgreSQL DBs) a while
back, but not soon enough to make it into 2.9. Hopefully it will make it
into the next release.

Cheers,

Paul-Andre

I think you can only create a read-only API user.

Hi,

Has anybody ever created a read-only user for Spacewalk. I want an account that
can look but not touch.

Thanks,

[Spacewalk-list] Debian package comparison failing.

2019-06-21 Thread Jay McCanta
We are seeing a version compare failure in spacewalk with two Debian packages:
libtre5-0.8.0-3+deb7u1ubuntu1
and
libtre5-0.8.0-3ubuntu1

Spacewalk says the second one is newer, but apt (and dpkg) say the first one is
newer.

Looking at the version comparison code, which is in so many places, it looks
like there nothing that differentiates whether to use the rpm version algorithm
or the Debian one. Is this being looked at in the next release? It seems
that the two algorithms are incompatible for some release versions and none of
the comparisons tests take into account whether it is deb or rpm.

[Spacewalk-list] How to download Spacewalk for an offline install?

2019-06-21 Thread Paul Greene
Is there an archive you can download of just the needed Spacewalk 2.9
packages to do an offline install of Spacewalk (the server and client
packages)?

I have access to CentOS 7 base, updates, and EPEL 7 via local repos, so I
don't need anything from there - I just need the spacewalk rpms.

Thanks,

[Spacewalk-list] Two Failed 2.7 to 2.9 Upgrades

2019-06-21 Thread Brian Long
I have two Spacewalk environments at different sites. Two weeks ago I
upgraded one of them from 2.7 to 2.9 (bypassed 2.8). The DB schema
upgrade was successful, but I noticed I could not view my Kickstart
profiles without receiving an error message:
There are errors in your kickstart template. Please check the
'Kickstart File' tab to determine the problem with the template.

I upgraded my second environment today and I also receive the same
error message. When I click on the Kickstart File tab, I see no
errors or clues on why it cannot generate the kickstart file. I've
been looking through various tomcat and rhn log directories but cannot
determine where the error is occurring.

If I create a brand new kickstart profile on either server, I get the same
error. This seems to imply it's not my Snippets or other customizations to
the existing profiles. Something is wrong across the board on these
newly-upgraded 2.9 systems.

Where should I look next or what debug should I enable to track this down?

By the way, my existing systems are working fine and I was able to
move them to new Spacewalk 2.9 Client channels and update the client
RPMs without issues.

Thank you for any insights.

/Brian/

[Spacewalk-list] Spacewalk in container

2019-06-21 Thread Ananta Chakravartula
Is it recommended/supported to run Spacewalk in a container? What all
locations I have to make persistent? I see data written to /var/satellite
and /var/lib/pgsql. Are there any other places to keep in mind if I use
every service of spacewalk?

Also, Is there any chance of updating the documentation with support of
running Spacewalk in a Container?
