I overlooked that Gilles also advised you to use 1.2. Duh. That explains
it ;) .

I already do, that's why I'm surprised. Your logs show that you use
1.2-beta2, so how can this work?

Leonard,

modem_run 1.2-beta2 doesn't have the -a option:

# modem_run --help
modem_run version 1.2-beta2: $
usage: modem_run [-v level] [-m] -f microcode
   -v : verbose level [0-2]
   -m : monitor the line
-s : skip the first 512 bytes read
-f microcode : upload this microcode file first
-d device: defines the device to use
-k : using the kernel mode driver
   --help : this message

Is that what you wanted to know?

Schelte.

Even I have now switched over to the official tree, I suggest you try that.

[speedtouch] Modem connection gradually gets slower.

2004-04-03 Thread Sergio Millich

I use the Speedtouch 330 Silver modem with the rev4 firmware from the nemohackers
site. I connect with pppOE. Everything went fine after the first couple connections,
then gradually I have been getting problems with Firefox and Thunderbird not being
able to type into the location bar without freezing the browser. Mozilla kept working
fine until recently when it got unusually slow (up to a 1 minute to load a page). To
this point, I can still connect but the response times are unacceptable. Has the
firmware deteriorated from not killing the processes correctly on shutdown? Can
something be done? Thank you for your answers.

Curious, as his log says

Apr 2 15:46:41 pc modem_run[21842]: modem_run version 1.2-beta2 started
by root uid 0

Care to explain?

Gilles,

That did the trick. I have my ADSL connection running with Linux now :-D

Thank you very much!

You need modem_run from the V1.2 driver and use -a /your/path/ZZZLP1.eni -f
/your/path/ZZZLP2.eni options for modem_run
