It's been point out to me (repeatedly, by the way!) that I had a typo in my
response. The thread size is actually 3/8-24 NOT 3/3-24 :)

[Spits] Fwd: [Fot] HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2010-04-08 Thread Brad Kahler
Listers,

Can someone possibly help Mark out?!

Brad
(off to VIR in an hour)

-- Forwarded message --
From: Diesel Performance Parts Inc. - Info

Subject: [Fot] HELP!!!
To: f...@autox.team.net

Morning FOTer's,

As always posting because I need help, having owned a Spit and a TR6
back in the "day" I sold my Shelby race car and started racing a Spit,
love it but I am sort of out of it as compared to the Ford parts and
where to get what and what fits what and such. So back to my problem,
going like a mad man with NDA shipments and such to get ready to
reinstall my originally incorrectly made Summer Brothers axles and while
doing that I was going to upgrade to GT6 rear drums. As you know the
only way to get the backing plates changed is to ruin a bearing locking
ring, maybe ruin a bearing and have to totally take out both axles, hubs
etc etc. Anyway got all my parts in painted prepped and waiting on
Summer Brothers to send my now hopefully correctly re done axles back
NDA yesterday. Got'em in left the office and went home to put it all
together and planned leave this AM for VIR and the VDCA race. All my
buddies left Wed and I was to catch up. Well I get the 7/16" race wheel
studs pressed in and spot welded in place and I am ready to drop on the
4 bolt flange with the axle seal followed by the brake backing plates
and guess what, the bolt pattern on the backing plates I was sent is off
by at least 1/2" ! Turns out they are Rotoflex backing plates and
not the ones that match the Spitfire 4 bolt pattern. So I spend a couple
of hours calling everyone I know (especially west coast places as I need
them NDA today) and no one has/will take the time/or whatever) to see if
they have any. So VIR and the VCDA is out. But I still need the right
backing plates.

So does anyone have any they would sell to me? They backing plates have
a 2.0" center hole, the smaller Spit bolt pattern around 2 3/8" center
to center measurement and are for the 8" x 1.5" shoe size. They have
the same wheel cylinder as a Spit and also the same manual brake
adjuster set up. By the way the GT6 parts car I have has 8" x 1.5" drum
brakes if anyone needs them, they are "supposedly" rare??? Price can be
REALLY right as I need to re coup all the NDA charges I spent on nothing
now that VIR is out

Thanks from Brakeless in Tennessee!! Hoping the "List" can help!

Re: [Spits] [TR] Spitfire brake switch

2010-04-05 Thread Brad Kahler
Andy Mace sent me the info of off the Spitfire website and I took that
information and the info provided by other responders to three different
parts stores (Napa, Autozone & O'Reilly's).

Napa didn't have any of them that I listed saying they couldn't even order
them. Same story with Autozone. I then went to O'Reilly's and they
couldn't get the spitfire one but they had one (only one) instock for a
Chevy Luv. It appears to be a direct bolt in replacement. I'll find out
tonight.

I found it odd that no one seemed to be able to order these switches. Even
O'Reilly's said they couldn't order the Chevy Luv switch, they just happened
to have one in stock
Thanks everyone for the replies.

[Spits] Spitfire brake switch

2010-04-05 Thread Brad Kahler
While rebuilding the custom throttle pedal assembly on Susan's spitfire race
car I inadvertently broke the brake switch. Unfortunately I don't have
enough time to order a switch from any of the usual suppliers as the car is
being loaded on the trailer Monday for the trip to VIR.

Has anyone sourced a brake switch from a local auto parts supply such as
Napa, Autozone, etc? If so which one?

Thanks!

[Spits] Spitfire Mk2 / 3 seats

2010-03-10 Thread Brad Kahler
Before going the eBay route I thought I would offer them to the list first.

I have a pair of seats from a Spitfire Mk2 or Mk3 that are very solid
seats. They definitely need recovering but the springs look to be in very
good shape and the frames are solid and include the catch mechanism at the
lower rear of the seat.

I also have a pair of Spitfire seat tracks that are in good condition.

If interested please contact me off list.

Thanks,

[Spits] [TR] Weber tuning/jetting needed at VTR

2007-07-05 Thread Brad Kahler
Anyone know if any of the vendors or anyone else will be bringing a
Weber jet kit to VTR? We are having trouble with the Weber in Susan's
Spitfire (DGV 32/36) and think it's probably time for some new jets.
(We're not looking for a freebie, just to see if someone will be there
with the knowledge and the equipment.) Neither one of us is very
familiar with the Weber, so on-site help would be great!

Thanks,

Empty trailer traveling from Upstate NY to Arkansas

2006-05-09 Thread Brad Kahler
Hi everyone!

We have lightened our load of one 1947 Simca Cinq and I will be
making a run from central Arkansas up to Virginia and then probably on to
the Albany, NY area to deliver it and some other stuff. I will have an
empty flat-bed trailer and covered F-250 bed (6'x8' or something like
that) on the way back, if anyone has anything they would like transported
along the route. I can also bring stuff back as far as Dallas, since we
do make it down there a good bit. This trip will probably take place in
early to mid-June, but we're not sure yet.

The return route can be just about anything that gets me from the Albany
area to Arkansas.

So if anyone has a vehicle or parts (or furniture, or lawn equipment, you
get the picture...) they would like transported for a reasonable price,
please let us know!

Brad

Empty trialer traveling from Florida to Arkansas

2005-11-05 Thread Brad Kahler
I'll be making a trip to Florida from Arkansas in late November or early
December and will have an empty car trailer on the return trip from
Florida (Daytona Beach area) to Arkansas or points in between.

If anyone has a load that needs to travel from the Daytona Beach area or
close by let me know, maybe we can work something out.

throttle linkage dimension needed (mk4 or 1500)

2005-10-22 Thread Brad Kahler
Been a long time since I've posted. I'm in the middle of converting
Susan's new mk3 with a 1500 engine over to twin SUs (UK version). I'm
replacing the existing throttle shaft assembly that crosses over from the
driver side to the passenger side with one that is from a 1500 cable
driven type.

I need the location of the hole where the cable passes through the top of
the firewall and connects to the throttle pedal. Once I have that hole
located I can locate the holes needed for mounting the pedal assembly to
the firewall itself.

I'm on the digest so if you would respond directly to me I would
appreciate it.

Thanks!

Trailer needs hauling

2004-02-20 Thread Brad Kahler
Hi all!

We have just sold Brad's 12' trailer to a fellow in New York. We
were wondering if there is anyone who wants to take it up there for
him (Dallas to New York, or to a point along the route). If so, please
let us know what you would want to do this, or if you could suggest a
reasonable way for him to get the trailer.

Another thought would be if anyone has a car needing to go to the
eastern seaboard, it would be a good way to get the trailer and the
car there at the same time.

Thank you!
Susan :)

printer

2003-11-14 Thread Brad Kahler
Hi hon!

This lexmark printer isn't printing at all now. It went through the
motions of printing a picture I sent it but all I got was a blank page.
Is that the new ink in there or?

Should I bring the Epson 500 from the shop for use here? That was
a good printer.

Also, Rhett has installed a super strong spam filter and I'm definitely
losing emails. I've contacted him about it. So don't be surprised if
some emails don't get through to you.

Love you, cher!
