Hey J. Murphy,

Friday 13th, a day of fortune for the work on X06 - Murphy's law
positively:-).

Many thanks for this catch. 14077 kHz looks like a new freq. Please send me
your recording to find out the scale. - Although my email address
(jochen.schup...@gmx.de) is in the From field, here it is (look into the
brackets).

Interesting, that you also can receive X06 in the States like some others.

Best 73s and thanks again

Jochen, the X06 Teamkopf - ENIGMA2000

That's in the digital segment of the 20-meter ham band. Some of the
newer digi modes used by hams sound like polytones. Are you sure that
isn't what you heard?

Hi!
It's not only they sound like polytones, they ARE regular polytones!
And 14076-7 is the typical frequency for these broadcasts. Look for jt65
or jt65a, there is a lot of samples at youtube.

Sounds like every recording I've heard of X06.  I copy it often here in
Australia.

I will send my recording today, Jochen; 'twas bedtime when I got your message.

Interesting, that you come from Australia. There I know another guy, who is
listening to X06.

[Spooks] NOT X06!

Hello J. Murphy et al,

the station you heard is definitely NOT X06, although it sounds similar -
that's trou. But X06 has breaks after the 6 tone scale, which repeats over
and over. This station is a kind of Polytone, which uses a similar system
like X06, but the tones are changing more often. But if you listen to usual
X06 recordings, you'll notice the breaks and a repeat of the scale till the
end of transmission. There are also X06 variants, which have less than 6
tones (X06b) or 3 x 2 = 6 tones like 121212 (this is X06a) or the 6-note
rising scale (X06c). Most X06 transmissions have scales from 6 different
tones. We describe them with 1 as lowest and 6 as highest tone, for
example 463125, one of the most frequently used scales of X06.

I downloaded several recordings of X06 by others and this sounds very similar
but I am new to this and learning the differences between polytones, so thank
you for the clarification.  I hear what you mean about the breaks, Jochen.  I
will have to find out what mode this is; I've downloaded many recordings of the
various data formats and it doesn't sound like any I've yet heard.

My apologies for my mistake, and if I do log X06 in future I will ask someone
that knows better for confirmation before I post.
