Visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/spooks to unsubscribe from this list I'm wondering' if the operators refer to themselves by another acronym? Egyptian culture being what it is, generally. As you know, they don't have internet, so relaying uncensored information is almost impossible (without tethering to a cellphone and dialing an international isp). The only other affordable method I can think of would be Ham. So, has anyone caught any odd broadcasts potentially pertaining to Egypt in the last week? If so, if you could supply freqs, I would greatly appreciate it. Visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/spooks to unsubscribe from this list It appears there have only been a couple radio amateurs active from Egypt in the last couple weeks, the last one being spotted on Jan. 23. I don't know if they were able to relay any info on current events or not. 73, Zack W9SZ On Mon, Jan 31, 2011 at 1:33 PM, Ryan Kirby ryan.sdef...@gmail.com wrote: Visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/spooks to unsubscribe from this list Just out of curiosity, with the situation in Egypt unfolding as it is, I am curious if anyone has come across any Ham broadcasts coming out of Egypt. Visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/spooks to unsubscribe from this list This was being discussed yesterday at the QRP-L group. One of the members posted this message and link... It looks like morse code strikes again. The internet was shut down in Egypt. It looks like morse code is being used to pass around info via ham radio. Kudos to the ham operators. The heroes during natural *and* man made disasters. Always have a portable radio readyjust in case. http://news.yahoo.com/s/huffpost/20110130/cm_huffpost/815889 Carole - Original Message - From: Zack Widup w9sz.z...@gmail.com To: Shortwave Spy Numbers Stations spooks@mailman.qth.net Sent: Monday, January 31, 2011 1:21 PM Subject: Re: [Spooks] [OFF TOPIC] Middle Eastern Ham Radio Visit http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/spooks to unsubscribe from this list It appears there have only been a couple radio amateurs active from Egypt in the last couple weeks, the last one being spotted on Jan. 23.
