At some point 77x in the playlistfolder was needed for lms because lms needs e*x*ecution bit to be set. Now that seems to be gone i am using 770 right now for testing purposes. The 4 for everyone isnt needed but its my usecase cause i run scripts that do a lot of stuff outside lms but for lms. Since my lms is a headless system and i use the librarys as a smb share my rightdeployment is in the smb part. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS vs SSD
Agreed that the OP would/should not have any real SSD wear putting the cache on the SSD, but using a cheap USB stick for the cache would mean no writing to the SSD by LMS, so why not? Because you want SSD for performance. By putting the most performance critical part on the slowest storage this kind of is wrong. And adding a fast storage to USB2 really defeats the point of the additional money spent. I'd not worry too much and just go with a good SD card. I've been running my pCP based server for 18+ months on the same SD card. It's easily and relatively cheaply replaced should it ever fail. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] A "how do I...."/feature request - hide players from LMS
I made a start at getting Jivelite to run on a Joggler. Some progress, but some snags. This particular forum doesn't seem like the right place to discuss my efforts, so I started a 'new thread' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110040-Jivelite-on-a-Joggler) in the Linux/Unix forum. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110032 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 7.9.2 does not start on Readynas ultra pro 4
Hi, I have just installed LMs 7.9.2 (logitechmediaserver-7.9.2-1547382380-i386-readynas.bin) on Readynas ultra 4 with Radiator 4.2.31. Previously LMS 7.9.1 worked fine. However, it does not want to start. Readynas frontview says it did, but it is not running (the Setting page does not open, ipeng does not see the server ...). I basically removed the 7.9.1 and performed the update. It is visible as an add on. anything obvious I am missing? [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Issue with international characters in filenames
Hello, I have RPi3 LMS 7.9.2 installation. Music library located on a NAS. Music folders mounted via fstab. 1. Issue is with international characters in filename in music library folder. This is music folder that I see in Raspberian: '/mnt/music/_' This is music folder, that I'm add in LMS after click 'Aapply' button: '/mnt/music/_ÐаÑÑбежнаÑ' 2. If Music folder contains music files or folders with non-english characters in names (maybe inner tags?) Rescan Media Library doesn't work. After several files the scan process freezes. At the same time one of processor cores shows 100% load. Scanner log and Server log shows no errors. Abort scan doesn't work. The only way is to kill proccess. 3. Material skin plugin freezes LMS while trying to access files with non-english characters via "Music folder". Classical Web UI work properly with non-english "Music folder" - no freeze of LMS. I tried new installation of RPi3 and LMS 7.9.2 and 7.9.1 with Audio Scan 1.02 and 0.95. But no success. Maybe any prefs may force LMS to decode filenames correctly? pppaul's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63259 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110037 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I have Jogglers and a pcp with touch screen. The Joggler is much more aesthetically pleasing and also more stable. Its easy to knock the pcp over but not so the Joggler. I use the Joggler more as a now playing display with an SB3 with its screen off and generally control via iPeng VB2.4 STORAGE *QNAP TS419P (NFS) Living Room* - Joggler & SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 -> Celestion F20s *Office* - Pi3+Sreen -> Sony TAFE320 -> Celestion F10s / Pi2+DAC & SB3 -> Onkyo CRN755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* -> SB Boom *Kitchen* -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - Pi2+DAC ->ToppingTP21 ->AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - SB Touch ->Sherwood AVR ->Mordaunt Short M10s Everything controlled by iPeng d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110032 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Yeah, starting to appreciate that. I think I'll have a go at installing a fresh Ubuntu OS (from 'here' (https://jwills.co.uk/projects/joggler-xubuntu/download/) perhaps), then following the instructions for installing Jivelite from scratch (e.g. 'here' (http://www.hagensieker.com/jivelite/index.php)). If anyone knows of better resources than those links, feel free to point me in the right direction! Just make sure you skip the part about squeezelite - that would be the player part again, and LMS. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS vs SSD
I put an SSD on an Odroid (like a PI) for an LMS server 3+ years ago because I did not want a spinning drive, and it runs off the PI USB power. It just runs. The amount of writing to the cache is hardly going to stress the SSD - I run them in desktops and my work laptop which runs 24x365 and never a problem - think of how much a heavy stacked PC writes to the disk every day. By contrast, USB flash drives have miserable write life - why would you put the heaviest writes on the weakest component?
