Unfortunately that didn't help. I tried it twice, both times wiping the cache by nuking the 'cache' directory. The first cache was: I'd still bet it's a permissions issue. Make sure the Squeezebox user has access to all levels of that path (not only the Albums folder, but /home, /home/music etc., every level). Because that might be a bit tricky, I'd suggest you just move a bunch of files to a folder outside /home. Give it full access to everybody and it will work. Now you can go from there. Reset permissions to be only accessible to the owner and group. Make the Squeezebox user part of that group. It should still work. /home/squeezeboxserver/cache (AFAIK this was created when I installed LMS from your RPM - I've certainly never created it as a user) and the second was /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache - and again its cerrainly nothing I've ever created. This tells me that you've been doing more than you should ever have. You mentioned installing the RPM file. What else? I'd suggest you start from scratch. Remove anything SB related. Search your disk for anything *squeezeboxserver*. Install 7.9.2 RPM. Start with a new music folder outside /home. Then try again. Hello, sorry but I'm stucked. I've installed Logitech media server on an clean intel nuc8i3be with windows 10, but the server doesn't start like descriped above. I'm also tried to delete the file, reinstalled several times, several versions and on my windows server 2016 desktop pc it's working fine. I get the same error message (mkdir X:\: No such file or directory; The system cannot find the path specified at /Slim/Utils/Prefs.pm line 112) from the serverlog. When do you get this error? I would also investigate what interface to use. Coax/spdiff or toslink can not deliver discrete multichannel only DD or DTS. HDMI can do it . USB ? Possibly I dont know must also be done in th recieving device. Is there a player such as Squeezelite that can deliver multichannel to a hdmi port ? On for example raspberry Pi or an intel NUC ? Dont know about the other questions but im Also interested. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to play (in surround sound) 6 channel [5.1] surround sound flac files.
(current situation) I run LMS (flac native setting) on a NAS which delivers to an EDO Touch (ethernet hardwired) which then sends those flac files by way of USB-out to a two channel DAC and then on to my traditional stereo rig. Pretty standard so far. I ALSO have a number of 6 channel [5.1] surround sound flac files on my NAS. I have high confidence these are true 6 channel 5.1 surround sound flac files. My LMS sees those files and delivers them as very large flac files to my Touch. Touch sees those files, recognizes them as very large flac files, and pases them on to a 2 channel DAC which feeds then to my stereo where they play in stereo. (issue) I will be setting up a second system for 5.1 (6 channel) surround sound. I want to use as much of the Logitech ecosystem as possible in that system. (questions) 1. Is the LMS delivering flac files containing all 6 chnnels, or is it down-mixing to stereo? 2. If LMS is delivering the full 6 channel flac file, is the EDO Touch pulling just two channels, or is it passing all 6 channels through usb-out to the DAC? 3. If the Touch is incapable of passing through all 6 channels (assuming all 6 are ariving from LMS) is there another squeeze player that will pass through all 6 channels to a surround sound (6 channel flac) capable system? (goal) To use as much of my existing file delivery ecosystem as possible to deliver 6 channel flac files to a new surround sound system. Thanks in advance. My understanding - if you launch the player with a -N filename where the named local file has a player name in it then that is the name that the player will give to LMS when it connects. If you then change the name of the player from LMS web interface (etc) then LMS will tell the player itÂ’s new name and the player should store it back into the named local file. I've been using the -N option for ages, well really since Triode added it back in Dec 2013 and I've never noticed that behaviour. I usually populate the file with the playername when I first add the -N option and I don't change player names very often. Permissions could be the issue updating the -N file if squeezelite is not running as root however squeezelite will log that with an 'unable to store new name in file' warning.
