Pausing once may not be enough, they can simply resume playing anytime.
One possible solution would be to use 'this plugin'
to to wait for the event "playlist newsong", and immediately stop the
player. The script used to stop the player should check the player id to
make sure only the intended Squeezebox is stopped.

If something is 'fighting' with the default port (9002, on Synology
nas), as Apesbrain suggests, you could change the port to 9000.Just go
to Settings --> Advanced --> Network and change the Web Server Port
Number to 9000. Restart your clients and test if this is improving the
stability of the connections.Mind the after a server or LMS restart, the
port value reverts to the default setting again!

Test one by one and start with local lan via network cable and only lms.
Then power up one squeezebox and test with local music. Then try wifi
the same way.
If that all works then try mysqueezebox.com and spotty.
Remember, step by step.

In my case where a single SB did well but as soon as I added a second
trying to sync with first one and after 30ish second the whole bunch
started to resync. Finally it appeared that somehow my windows server
where the local music is stored kicked lms outside. Rebooted the server
and everything was OK.

Use wifi and schedule the wifi SSID of the kids? Works also for tablet,
phone etc.
Ubiquiti has this feature (and much more)

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help: LMS Players lose connection

2019-05-04 Thread Apesbrain

Things I'd try:

1. If your Squeezeboxes are connected via wifi, try another wifi
channel: 1, 6, or 11
2. Via your router, assign a reserved IP to your NAS
3. Unplug everything and, starting with router, power each device up
until it is fully started. Work your way "outward", e.g. after the
router is stable, start the NAS and once stable, start each Squeezebox.

Is it possible you have another media server running on your NAS and it
is fighting with LMS for port 9000?

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Pause specific Squeezebox at scheduled times?

2019-05-04 Thread Michael Herger

Is there a way to pause a specific Squeezebox at scheduled times? I'd
like to block the Squeezebox in the kids room at scheduled times. I
already tried to pause Internet access for the Squeezebox on my router.
However the Squeezebox continues to work as it accesses the local LMS
and not the Internet...

You want to prevent the kids from using their SB? I did start working on
such a plugin a few years ago, but never finished it... The kids soon
understood that if they used the SB when they were not allowed to use
them, the SB would be gone :-). (it still happens of course, but this is
part of the growing up experience)

Connection on all devices and i can also connect to my NAS and the LMS
(very slow) Webinterface by remote. So if there would be a Problem to
connect to myharmony.com ... the devices should connect to LMS in my
wifi? But they cant find my local LMS?

  ###vars:
  ## the mac from your player
  playerID="aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff"

  ## The IP from your LMS System
  server=192.168.199.11

  ## The CLI Port from your LMS
  port=9090

Thanks, good idea. The symptoms seem very similar still I doubt it. All
clients and the server have a stable and running internet connection. I
verified this by

a) running software updates at clients and server from sources at the
internet without any problems several times.
b) using ping from clients and servers to hosts outside my local
netowork which also worked flawless.
