Thanks for prompt reply @digimaster - Understand - and its great you
have developed this app for the QNAP NAS's. I am planning on needing an
external player (like Sonore or RPi as posted in 'Hardware SqueezeLite
Player Suggestions (USB, Native DSD)'
so I will get the NAS purchased and configured with your
QLogitechMediaServer and then do some tests - if it works great, if not
no problem I'll continue down the separate (SqueezeLite) USB hardware
player route.

Appreciate the prompt response!

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech media server+picoreplayer+TIDAL+ dac= no sound

2019-11-18 Thread dopus

I have been using Logitech media server for years. I use it toghether
with Picoreplayer (on a RPI 2B)I then added my TIDAL Hifi account to
mysqueezebox.com, and everything has been working for years,

This year I downgraded my Tidal Hifi to Tidal Premium, And when i now
try to use my old setup, there is no sound. I can add songs to my
playlist from the Tidal pluging, and it looks like it is playing, but
there is no sound at all on my strereo.

I first thought mabye it was my dac, that had problems, but i try
streaming internet radio through lms, and the sound is there. I thought
mabye it was the subscription , but i trided a squeezebox player on my
android phone, connected to the same lms server, and it plays songs from
tidal throught the same server without any problems. When I connect my
picoreplayer to my AMPS built in dac (through USB) Tidal works and plays
songs.)

So, its not the Tidal subscription, it is not the DAC, its probably not
the Lms, but som kind of strange bug, when combinging Henry audio dac,
picoreplayer, LMS and Tidal. And Yes I have set audio quality in the
Tidal plugin to mp3.

Anyone have the slightes idea of what is causing the no audio
problem???

I even tried updating my Dacs firmware, and that did not make any
difference.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on MacOS 10.15 "Catalina"?

2019-11-18 Thread jmpage2

I've started reviewing this thread but am a little bit confused.

Is there a sum/TL-DR update anyone can provide? Are we relying on the
XML export capability from the new Music App in Catalina for LMS to
continue to work with a music library or is some dynamic update
capability a possibility?

I have LMS running on a Windows 10 box and build my library from an XML
I pull from iTunes on my Mac. I use my Mac to manage all of my music
which resides on a Synology NAS. I could just as easily pivot to
running LMS on the Synology box assuming I could get it to work.

Thanks all!

You could have chosen the ARM only build - it's much smaller and should

I've had cause to look in my syslog and I see that the thousands of
messages I was getting in September are back, e.g.:

Code:

kernel: [204931.004603] "squeezeboxserve" (7010) uses deprecated CP15
Barrier instruction at 0xf691dce0

I have just run Paul Webster's suggestion again (the first time was
September) to try to stop this logging activity:

Code:

echo 2 >/proc/sys/abi/cp15_barrier

Any idea why I have needed to enter it again? I don't think I have
upgraded the OS in that time (I have updated LMS at every opportunity).
Should I set up a cron job that just repeats this off every day,
perhaps?

Thanks.

Could you please help me to find server.log on Raspbian ? I don't know
where to find it. As you can see, I'm not very comfortable with
Raspbian. I just installed it for the first time few days ago.

Once you have the answer to the first question, I think you will have
the answer to the second.

Check the revision dates of the MP3 file to get an idea of when it
changed. Might help in narrowing things down.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] library rescan seems to start at random times

2019-11-18 Thread agbagb

I had a RESCAN oddity recently that I was going to raise in the Forum,
but which I managed eventually to solve on my own. My LMS is set to
RESCAN when it detects additions or changes. I hadn't done either
recently, but LMS was suddenly endlessly rescanning, and freezing up in
assorted annoying ways. While I was grabbing and preparing LOGGING
files to show here, I noticed that they seemed to show a scanning
hang-up with a single MP3 file in a single album (among thousands). I
guessed that file - which I had not touched for years, even just to play
it - had somehow developed corruption and that LMS was seeing this as a
change that it could not deal with. Oddly, the file still played fine
(in WinAmp - I couldn't get near it via LMS)! So, I simply deleted the
file from its album folder, and then a RESCAN went though the whole
music HDD quite quickly, and finished properly. I had another FLAC
version of the same file, so I then just popped that into the folder,
and again a RESCAN went ahead with no problems. Odd, really: why should
an unused file suddenly corrupt itself? And why would LMS see that as a
"change", triggering RESCAN?

Well a QNAP firmware update and for the first time ever, QLMS (2.10.02)
re-started without my intervention.
VERY HAPPY about that!

Apologies. Typo. Its overhead not headhead. My bad

You can refer to the installation guide here for Volumio (for reference
only) - https://forum.volumio.org/volumio-x86-install-hdd-t5058.html

In essence- you need to create 2 usb drives.
1st drive - any bootable usb image will do. I suggest you use the
volumio image

2nd drive - you need to copy the img file into the 2nd usb. Do not burn
the image to the usb drive. Just copy the img file to your 2nd usb drive
will do. You’ll have to substitute the volumio image in the instruction
to dietpi image.

Procedure in a nutshell involves:

1 - booting from the bootable drive (Suggest to use imageusb -
freeware). This also mean that you have to set the your booting order in
the pc bios

2 - copy the img file from the 2nd usb drive to your computer hdd.

I use the Native PC for Bios/Csm image (only 147mb). Relatively small
footprint

There is a library of softwares you can install. LMS and Squeezelite are
both in the list.

I don't change anything.
I use the freebox server since many years.
Yesterday I open all the ports to the squeezebox server pc. No
result...
I'll check my internet connection with my FAI.
