I suspect that may be the best way to go. PiCore Player is very polished
now although I haven't tried the server on it yet, I just build
VortexBoxes when I need a new server.

But it is good to see another old timer back on the forum. Be interested
to see how the two compare, especially in setup.

Stay well.

Thanks. No special settings that I recall. And I can't get into the
WebUI now to confirm

The server.log is filled with the following lines, posting every 5
seconds (connected with 'sleep 5' process no doubt):
-mm-dd hh:mm:ss Logitech Media Server died. Restarting.

Think I'm going to just overwrite the RPi installation of max2play and
LMS, or maybe give PiCore Player a spin as an alternative to max2 play.
And once I have things restored keep a clone of the SD card in a safe
place.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Mod music support?

2020-09-12 Thread Prime Heretic

Can't see anything on the forum about this.

Does LMS offer any support for playing mods?

There's a whole bunch of great mods on here :
https://modarchive.org/index.php

Mods are still being made, a lot of the retro demo scene is still
creating awesome demos, the music often making it's way to mod form.

An example might be this thing from Revision 2020 :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s66OgcwqalA

Or this mod by the same artist :
https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid=182049
(click "Play with Online Player" on the linked page)

Mod collections are a thing and id love to start building one and having
it play through LMS along with all my other music in other formats mp3,
ogg, flac.

Assuming such functionality doesn't exist, one complication might be
pulling the artist/track metadata, I may be wrong but it doesn't look
like .mod .xm and the other mod style file formats support anything
similar to id3.

Now I check, I see 23 in the playlists menu. LMS library stats say:

Total Images: 0
Total Videos: 0
Total Tracks: 40,795
Total Albums: 3,374
Total Artists: 1,620
Total Genres: 56
Total Playlists: 23
Total Playing Time: 3155:59:28

but the scan details says:

iTunes Playlist Import (31 of 31)

So I don't know where the other eight are!

7.9.1 is from 2018 - no IO::Socket::SSL details listed so perhaps the
"https" is too old.

To see if it is https related - try playing the same podcast using a

I solved it..

www.blubrry.com was resolving to traffic.libsyn.com

libsyn.com was flagged as an ad server in my network-wide ad and malware
blocker (pihole)
I just had to whitelist traffic.libsyn.com on pihole and now LMS can
resolve the IP address

Thanks to Man in a Van for suggesting the server log.

I've found where the full text search plugin lives and am happy to edit
the .pm file if there are changes you'd like me to make. I've done that
with several of the third party plugins to update them, so if that's the
level of tinkering needed, I'm sure I can handle that.

Mildly technical from a software perspective - what would I need to do?
If you can point me to some general guidance I can see if I'm
comfortable with it. I can follow instructions, and do spend time
tinkering with Python and assorted Raspberry Pi hardware and software,
but might not have the time to try too many new things.
In the meantime, I'll revert to the version before you made the changes
because it makes life simpler.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Scan taking hours instead of minutes on recent nightlies

2020-09-12 Thread Michael Herger

I've done that, Michael, but don't see much in the scanner log (below)

I see this:

[20-09-12 07:52:49.4831]
Slim::Plugin::FullTextSearch::Plugin::_rebuildIndex (488) Create
fulltext index for playlists
[20-09-12 11:10:59.3181]
Slim::Plugin::FullTextSearch::Plugin::_rebuildIndex (503) Optimize
fulltext index

Which tells me that most of the time indeed is spent in the playlist
processing, which I fixed a few days ago. Previously it wouldn't include
track information in the playlist index. While I do understand that it's
taking longer now, I need to investigate why it would take _that_ much
longer...

How technical would you be? I don't have playlists that large to test
with. If I posted a change, would you be able to apply the code change
to re-test with your collection (probably won't happen over the weekend)?
