No, idea, but I borrowed it and played FLAC which in transoced, but
previously he connected USB disks to it and played WAV.
So I guess it can play those formats.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] WAV, LMS and transcoding to FLAC or not?

2022-12-12 Thread Zombie

Hello
Did a search, but keywords very common and can't find anything.
Have a mate that begun to use LMS with a SoTM streamer. He prefers to
use WAV files.
Anyone know from the top of their head how to check how the WAVs are
sent on the network and how to configure to send them as WAVs?
Seems unnecessary to transcode to FLAC on the server to transcode back
to WAV in SoTM.
Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Moving LMS to new hardware

Is the catalogue CACHEDEV associated with QLogitechMediaServer or LMS in
general?
I have always had CACHEDEV_1, but now I also have a CACHEDEV_2 where all
files reside, while _1 is more or less empty.
Is it possible to just delete the CACHEDEV_1 and rename CACHEDEV_2 to
replace it?

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Moving LMS to new hardware

2022-12-06 Thread Zombie

A couple of questions while navigating in the confusing world of linux
or whatever:
1. Is it possible to get CACHEDEV1_DATA back instead of CACHEDEV2_DATA?
CACHEDEV1_DATA is there but has just one folder with a file in it. No
idea why.
Is it possible to rename it in situ?
2. server_uuid: 3c2e2a53-eaa3-4c8e-92d7-4020d46ec685
Do I delete ALL instance of server_uuid? (there are two)
Do I delete "server_uuid: 3c2e2a53-eaa3-4c8e-92d7-4020d46ec685" or just
the "3c2e2a53-eaa3-4c8e-92d7-4020d46ec685"
I deleted the entire row "server_uuid: and left the time
server_uuid row alone.

The server doesn't start prob because of the references to
CACHEDEV1_DATA instead of CACHEDEV2_DATA...
And QNAP doesn't show the files, of course.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Change in LMS directory structure lately?

2022-10-18 Thread Zombie

I'm trying to install InguzDSP on a QNAP TS-251+ NAS, but it seems the
directory structure has changed or is different from the structure in
the installation instructions for Ubuntu in the Inguz documentation.
For instance the default LMS plugin location on my is /share/Logitech
Media Server/SlimServer/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/
while it is /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/ in the Inguz
documentation
This goes for many locations and directories in the Inguz installation.
I use LMS 8.2.1.

Did it have the error with fan at full speed etc? Lots of TS-251s have
that and finally the unit will totally fail, but QNAP doesn't
acknowledge it or have they changed their mind?

I have spent hours and hours recreating my setup after app updates,

Since QLMS doesn't have any certificate, how would QTS react to it?

I opened a thread about QLMS and QTS 5.0 to separate it from this
longrunning thread.
Now there are four alternatives:
1. QTS 4.x and QLMS 2.21 - no changes
2. QTS 4.x and QLMS 2.25
3. QTS 5 and QLMS 2.21
4. QTS 5 and QLMS 2.25

I use LMS 8.2.1 without automatic upgrade to anything

If I choose alt 4, in what order should I upgrade, QTS and then QLMS or
the opposite?
Is alt 4 working without fiddling about with settings and reading tens
of posts in different forums?<
If it needs fiddling, exactly what should I fiddle with?

Thank you.

Nothing wrong with LMS or with SB.
If you feel unsure about the software DON'T USE NIGHTLIES!
You installed a beta and then blame LMS and SB.
Use a tried and tested version.
IMHO LMS now is better than Roon. And cheaper and flighter.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] A peculiar error with several albums having the same cover, album and song name

2021-04-21 Thread Zombie

I have used LMS for over ten years, but this is a new one and I just
discovered it and it must have happened in the past days.
I noticed that song 4 on Pipers of the Gates of Dawn was appearing often
in random play and realised that all Pink Floyd albums except one had
the same cover, song and album name (as above).
The file name is OK, it refers to the right song and album.
I scrolled through the album list under My music and discovered several
other albums in a row that had "taken over" by another album.
I checked with MP3TAG and the album pic had been changed in the tags.
How come?
And I have used the album pics search in Material several times before
and nothing happened AFAIK. Must have occured the past few days WITHOUT
I made a new database search for changes etc.

I have this now (changed NIGHTLY=1 to 0):

#NOUPDATE=0 # (0) [ When set only manuel update can be
done, or
UPDATE=/NIGHTLY= ?.?.? will trigger a update ! ]
UPDATE=1# (1) [ Will check on official update
on every startup, 0
will disable it. ]
NIGHTLY=0   # (1)   [ Check on NIGHTLY update on
every startup, 0 will
disable it. ]
NOMAJOR=0   # (0)   [ When set NIGHTLY wont check a major
level up.
Example when set if RELEASE is 7.9.2, NIGHLY will not check 8.0.0 ]

I assume #NOUPDATE=0 means the option is disabled
Should I remove the # and change to NOUPDATE=1 to disable all automatic
updates?

So, will there be another update or do I need to fumble with permissions
in my QNAP for FTP or SSH, spend hours trying to figure out where I find
row 377 and add a bracket to it?

I use QLMS on a QNAP TS-251 NAS.
Last night LMS worked fine, now it doesn't load. What has happened?
I thought I had disabled automatic updates to QLMS to avoid this a
situation, wise from the last time I lost all my settings and info.
Is there any solution to this?

To my knowledge I have not updated or changed anything. Don't even know
if my LMS is 8.0.
The NAS just shuts itself off at 3 am and turns on at 8 am.
Of course I appreciate the work people do, but what is irritating is to
find the system is not working. Wise from previous problems with LMS
updates I have disabled updates. If there is an update I first come here
to read if it works at all. This time it didn't help. Why, I have no
idea.
How to avoid this in the future?

I have 2.10.5 now, does that mean the QLMS.conf already has been replace

So, no need for backing up conf files and settings this time?

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Port trunking on QNAP NAS and LMS?

2020-03-05 Thread Zombie

Used port trunking to increase the speed when backing up my data to my
QNAP NAS (TS-251) with QTS 4.4.1.1216.
I use static IP-addresses for the adapters and changed one address to be
able to use it as a static port trunking address.
The first day (no restart) it all worked well with LMS.
Today, after restart (I turn off the NAS during the night) both a Boom
and a Touch started stuttering with the Radio Paradise FLAC stream
Less with streams with lower speeds. Local files played smoothly.
Have I missed a setting somewhere?

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bought QNAP TS251+ and alreay regret it...

2017-09-13 Thread Zombie

I have now dnloaded Putty. I assume that I should use the PSFTP
application. I created "tmp" in /root. Dunno if that is correct, I'm not
a UNIX hack, although I did some Telnet stuff before the internet went
graphical, but that was a loong time ago.
When I list the directories I can't see the Squeezebox directory,
shouldn't the tarball be placed in its tmp folder?

Got 7.7.2 up and running, dnloaded and renamed the tarball to
squeezeboxserver-7.8.1-1504317335.tgz.
Stopped LMS in SSOTS and upgrade became available.
Started upgrade on SSOTS, upload the TGZ, press the "upload tarball"
button and I get an error: Connection terminated (in Swedish).
What might be wrong?

Yeah, I begun to get the idea of what was going on. 7.7.2 is shut down,
not in use. Need to understabd what folders to create and share, the
instruction is a bit confusing.
