Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Cache location for cached streaming mode?
I may be behind the curve on whether or not that concern has a realistic impact on SSD longevity. I believe SSD wearing out due to too many writes is a thing of the past. Plus there are so many other things writing to your disk LMS' cache would only add very little to the noise. ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I wanted to prolong the life of the SSD in a new Mac I've just installed LMS on. I expect to have this machine for a decade or more, and assumed that limiting the hours of daily writes that cached high-quality streaming might entail would help achieve that. I may be behind the curve on whether or not that concern has a realistic impact on SSD longevity. My question may be moot, for while reading through LMS logs last night as I was experiencing interruptions in playback, I found this: "Lookup failed for www.mysqueezebox.com1." I then disabled the "keep player settings in sync" option in mysqueezebox.com integration in LMS settings (I have a mysqueezebox.com account I rarely visit), and an improvement in streaming followed (and continues this morning). With "persistent streaming" checked in LMS settings, I am now experiencing consistent playback with relatively rare and brief interruptions. I'm hoping that change is not just coincidence. I appreciate your reply and any other advice you may have. threej's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66492 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116402 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

With one SSD in my Mac, I want to change the streaming cache (Qobuz) to an attached external drive. Do you have a good reason for this? Like: you are facing a real problem you're trying to resolve? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Cache location for cached streaming mode?
Michael, Read your reply to psketch about changing the location of streaming cache. With one SSD in my Mac, I want to change the streaming cache (Qobuz) to an attached external drive. I do not understand the direction you gave about "adding the --tmpdir argument to the startup parameters." Can you clarify that for me? mherger wrote: > > I wondered what the location for the cache if you used the new(ish) > > cached streaming mode for https?
