Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Constantly crashing server (database image malformed)

2018-01-14 Thread DJanGo

Hi,

a little bit of 'google'
shows something like

Code:

 [squeezebox_db]
  path = /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache
  guest ok = yes
  writeable = yes
  create mask = 0777

So i decided to get my spare lms out of the storage get some winblows
and do the stuff they told me to do.
Then i added some stuff in my library did a rescan and stoppped lms and
backed up my cache folder.

After fiddling with that muso i go back to my spare lms and checked the
db files.
guess what the databasefiles are not the same as in the backup taken
after lms was stopped ..

Now its your turn

I thought I had already explained this. In order to use muso, I have to
create a symlink for the Cache folder so that muso can access it. So
instead of its default location of
/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache I create a symlink to a folder
called SqueezeShare and move it there. If I don't do this, muso cannot
access the Cache folder.

Here's the command I use to accomplish this:

ln -s /volume1/SqueezeShare/Cache /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter

No I know and I very much appreciate everyone's time. I just wanted to
make sure that space wasn't the real culprit here. It's just that
removing muso from the equation means I have to get rid of the symlink
and reinstall LMS from scratch, so I wanted to first see if creating
more space would help fix things before going all the way and having to
reinstall.

Why would you have to change anything about LMS to get rid of muso? Just
don't use the latter any more and see whether that changes the behaviour.

Where can i get that thing?

again if someone wants to "share" a database that someone usually uses
other technics than smb/cifs

Why didnt you make a small script, that

- checks lms for a actual rescan job if there is no rescan:
- Stops LMS
- dumps the databases to a folder thats shared
- start lms again
- add a criontab that runs that script @some hour

If that muso just wants to read - a max 23 hour old db shouldnt be a
problem?

As the dev said in a post previously, muso connects in a read-only
state. That error you posted was a fluke.

Anyway, I first wanted to see if making some more space would provide
the answer before I did something drastic like re-install everything
from scratch (which would need to be the case if I take muso out of the
equation). So I want to go down this route first to find out how much
space my system partition has. If that also proves to not be the
problem, then I'll remove the symlink, reinstall LMS from scratch and
see how things go from there.

So, here are the results of the df- h command. does this provide any new
clues?

Run the following command using ssh will give you some idea of the
system partition usage:

Code:

# df -h

Somehow I get the idea that you still use Muso? Is that correct?

Also, your post on the Synology Forum shows that Muso wants to write to
your LMS database as well:
https://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=131=138442#p512273

So, if you are using Muso, please follow Michael's advice and stop using
it for a few weeks!

for me where the Cache folder was in a share I created, without me

Also, there is one other thing on my installation that is different and
that is I create a symlink to the Cache folder on a share I created.

This is what I do:

Code:

This is so that a program I use, Muso, can have access to the Cache

Hi

I dont believe this to be a Sugarcube issue, it just happens that it's
writing to the log at the same time as the system is writing to the
log.

If you look at lines;
"database disk image is malformed"
"Trying to rebuild /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/library.db
from scratch."
"execute failed: attempt to execute on inactive database handle [for
Statement "SELECT value FROM metainformation WHERE name = 'isScanning'"]
at /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Slim/Music/Import.pm line 682"

These indicate that the LMS database is screwed and therefore when
Sugarcube is trying to read the database it cant because the database is
mangled

(SugarCube doesn't write to the LMS database it just reads from it.)

I would try;
Stopping the LMS service
Renaming the .db files (On a Wintel system these are under
ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache not sure for a Synology)
Restarting LMS service
This should start a complete rebuild of the LMS databases, rather than
just a rescan. If the database structure is damaged a rescan wont fix
the problem.

Ensure the scan completes fully and then try again. Also check your
Synology SMART status and check you don't have lots of disk errors,as
googling "database disk image is malformed" is also an indicator of
potential hardware failure.

Hope that helps

Seems still the same problem and IMO has to do with his (Morbeas)

Hmm, what makes you think it's Sugarcube?

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Constantly crashing server (database image malformed)

2017-12-31 Thread Morbeas

For several years now, my LMS stops out of the blue and I have to delete
all the .db files and rebuild from scratch. I've tried all sorts of
things like try pinkdot's LMSupdate package, Synology's beta package
(I'm currently running 7.9.1-166 on a Synology DS1511+) but the end
result is always the same. I'll be playing a song and it will just stop
and give me the following errors and the only option is to rebuild. This
happens at least once a week and I'm basically at the end of my rope. Is
there anything anyone can suggest that might fix this? I'm just so tired
of having to rebuild constantly, which takes longer and longer as my
library grows. :(
