No 3rd party plugins being used.

In the Mac Activity Monitor Perl looked like just another running
process, no warnings. The only difference I saw was that with it running
OK this morning the Real Memory Size was reported as 70 MB whereas when
crashed, System Preferences (with LMS preferences panel) reported as not
responding, showed the Real Memory Size as 54 MB.

Would Perl's CPU usage be high? Is macOS reporting it as not responding?

Are you using any 3rd party plugins?

Running LogitechMediaServer-8.0.1-1607593012 it did crash.

In Activity Monitor perl5.18 was reported as having Real Memory Size:
53.9 MB and Virtual Memory Size 4.27 GB. Again, Tidal not being used.

Nothing I can spot in the server log other than repeated SB Radio
warnings. My SB radios are connected to mysqueezebox.com not this LMS,
though they are on the same network.

See

You're using a SB Radio with a buggy firmware not recognizing this
version of Logitech Media Server.
Please consider patching it. Until then we'll try to play nice and
return a fake version number...

See

Anything else I can do or check?

Thanks.

OK. Let's see what happens.

Oh, and please check server.log for any hints about the crash (see
Settings/Information in LMS).

- Mac System Preferences: "not responding."
- I launch Activity Monitor and kill Perl5.18
- Go to System Preferences and LMS and Start Server, then it's back to
running for a day or so.

Next time this happens, please check your activity monitor whether LMS
is using huge amounts of memory. Do you happen to be a TIDAL user?
Please try the 8.0.1 nightly build

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 8.0.0 Mac Crashes Frequently with macOS 11.0.1 Big Sur (Intel)

2020-12-20 Thread bakerboy

Every day or so LMS crashes or becomes unresponsive. Intel based iMac.

- Mac System Preferences: "not responding."
- I launch Activity Monitor and kill Perl5.18
- Go to System Preferences and LMS and Start Server, then it's back to
running for a day or so.

- Additional info:
- Client system, Squeezelite 1.9.2 on Raspberry Pi, using Duet,
SqueezePad, or Peng.
- Two Squeezebox Radios on network but connected to mysqueezebox.com not
the local LMS. Patched successfully? Not sure. "Patch Installer"
selected results in "clunk" noise.
