Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Raspberry Pi 3B+ Woes

2018-05-21 Thread timearp

I've a Pi 2 which didn't upgrade correctly. Initially I chose the wrong
build but to get that installed I had to run:

apt-get -f install

Then:

apt-get install libio-socket-ssl-perl

Once it was installed then the Squeezebox software installed but kept
restarting, I then downloaded and installed the correct version (_all_)
and it has started correctly.

This ^^^

SD cards are cheap, buy a case with an accessible slot and you're good.

I’ve never even looked at Berryboot, there is not much interest either.

Changing cards is easier. You can even boot from a usb stick.

Thanks... yes pCp looks like the way forward. Cheers!

Thank you Paul. I've been reading a lot about what you guys are doing
and it sounds great... the only reason I haven't tried piCorePlayer
already is that I'm using berryboot because I really want to have a copy
of Raspbian on my SD card as well, and I haven't been able to find a
berryboot compatible img file of piCorePlayer anywhere. Since making one
myself is beyond my knowledge, any chance you could point me in the
right direction there? Is there a berryboot (squashfs image) or are you
guys likely to be making one available?

I bought a Raspberry Pi 3B+ about two weeks ago and installed pCp 3.50
on it and then loaded LMS. It was all pretty simple and just worked. I
followed this :
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107755-A-simple-how-to-for-quot-Spotty-quot-and-pCP
but didn't load Spotty.

I suggest that going the pCp way will be simpler than loading Raspian
and doing it all yourself.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Raspberry Pi 3B+ Woes

2018-05-18 Thread SimonW

I would like to install LMS on my Raspberry Pi 3B+ which is fitted with
a HiFiberry DAC+ and a 7" touch screen. My goal is to get the Jivelite
interface running so that I can use it as a digital media player on my
home stereo playing local audio files on a USB drive.

I have been having a lot of trouble installing it on Raspbian Stretch.

I've tried the debian packages for 7.9.1, 7.9.2, and the nightly builds
for 7.9... none of them will install. I get the error
"libio-socket-ssl-perl is not installed."

I also tried an early build (version 7.7 I think) and this installed and
ran but the service log showed that LMS was constantly restarting and it
was not possible to access the interface on port 9000.

Is it even possible to install it on the Pi 3B+ ? I read a post
somewhere that the ARM chip has a Perl conflict. I'm a complete Linux
newbie, so this is very frustrating.

I saw a suggestion somewhere that running buildme.sh might work... but I
have absolutely no idea how to do that.

Any help would be appreciated enormously.

Cheers!
