Make sure the playlist is being scanned after each change you are making to the m3u file. Output of "file" command on the files. Code: attempt2 copy.m3u8: M3U playlist, ASCII text, with CR line terminators attempt2.m3u8: M3U playlist, ASCII text, with CR, LF line terminators You should not be using m3u8 extension with the playlist - it implies UTF8 encoded playlist OR HLS playlist. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115649 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I stated that I did that earlier in this thread: Ok, thanks. I've opened the m3u files using TextPad. The path to the tracks within the Playlists is different than where the Playlists are now located. Apparently I didn't copy them back to the same place. HOWEVER, I OPENED A COUPLE OF THE M3U FILES AND EDITED THE PATH TO THE CORRECT DRIVE LETTER AND THEY STILL SHOW AS EMPTY WHEN I TRY TO PLAY THEM WITHIN LMS. Also, the m3u files that are not working show the path like this: #EXTINF:-1, Cuddle Up A Little Closer E:\Music\... However, when i create new playlist that do work it shows this: #EXTURL:file:///F:/Music.. tdehan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65180 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111382 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

tdehan wrote: > > > #EXTINF:-1, Cuddle Up A Little Closer > *E:\Music\*... > > However, when i create new playlist that do work it shows this: > > *#EXTURL:file:///F:/Music*.. I do very simple playlists that allow me to move my whole library with all my playlists between both drives and or platforms. I use relative file locations in my playlists and place them in my root music folder. Relative means basically "relative from where the playlist is located". So let's say my music is all in "D:\Music" and I want a playlist for the "Medley" from "The Beatles" - "Abbey Road" album. I put the playlist in "D:\Music" in this form; The Beatles\Abbey Road\08 Because.mp3 The Beatles\Abbey Road\09 You Never Give Me Your Money.mp3 The Beatles\Abbey Road\10 Sun King.mp3 The Beatles\Abbey Road\11 Mean Mr Mustard.mp3 The Beatles\Abbey Road\12 Polythene Pam.mp3 The Beatles\Abbey Road\13 She Came In Through The Bathroom Window.mp3 The Beatles\Abbey Road\14 Golden Slumbers.mp3 The Beatles\Abbey Road\15 Carry That Weight.mp3 The Beatles\Abbey Road\16 The End.mp3 Using this method I can move the folder "D:\Music" to my "E:" drive and the playlist will still work without having to modify it. I can also copy my music folder to my android phones' MicroSD card and the playlist still works without modification. I've also found that using the relative file location method for M3U playlists with the playlists in my root "/Music/" folder I do not have the duplicate problem that I've seen complaints about in these forums when playlists are in the main music library folder. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Playlists are all empty
Ok, thanks. Also, the m3u files that are not working show the path like this: #EXTINF:-1, Cuddle Up A Little Closer *E:\Music\*... However, when i create new playlist that do work it shows this: *#EXTURL:file:///F:/Music*.. tdehan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65180 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111382 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

What do the contents of the playlists look like if you edit them? Do they have relative filename locations or explicit filename locations? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Playlists are all empty
The Playlist folder path is correct and when I go to the Playlist folder all my playlists (m3u) files are there. However, when i select a playlist as mentioned in the app it shows empty as I indicate above. I can create new playlists and save but these are not visible from outside of LMS so perhaps permissions is the issue but how to solve? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Playlists / media scan / ipeng / cleanup
Since a long long time ago we "knew" that storing playlists in the same location as the music library end in doubles/triples links to files in the library. You know a lot more than I do. It doesn't really depend so much on where your playlists are stored, but much more on how you store paths in there. If it's a valid, absolute path, then it shouldn't cause any problem at all. If it's a relative path, or a different, but valid path (eg. UNC vs. mounted drive letter), then you could end up with dupes. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
