I'm sorry, no. I started to use my own subversion repository years back 
before github et al. were a thing... probably even before git was a 
thing for us normal humans :-)



I'm curious what the issue was and how you worked around it.


Long story short: stupid me.

A few weeks/months back I re-wrote the token-fetching to be 
non-blocking, as I had reports of Spotty locking up LMS for a long time 
when there were networking issues causing the token lookup to fail. That 
re-write unfortunately didn't work on Windows. So I had to revert back 
to using the old code on Windows. But the smart guy I am I tried to 
re-use some of the new code instead. And simply forgot to add a line to 
actually return the token under these circumstances...


As the token, once received, would be cached locally, the lock-up would 
only happen once the token had expired and a new one needed to be 
fetched (thus the 1h delay).



Didn't see anything when looking here:

Yeah, that's only the spotty helper part, but not the plugin code. It's 
on github as it started as a copy of the librespot sample application.

Thanks Michael. Really appreciate it. 

Installed updated Spotty plugin v2.3.8

Test 1:
Waited an hour after installing plugin then navigated to Spotty via
Classic. 
Result: Success, no hang
Paused the music, turned off Classic SB and...

Will try Test 2 after an hour+ has elapsed. 

Is there a code repo for Spotty, where I can view the update you made?
I'm curious what the issue was and how you worked around it.
Didn't see anything when looking here:

but perhaps you've just made the change in your local env at this
point.

Will let you know the result of Test 2 a little later today.

I think I've narrowed it down to (almost) Windows only, 
Classic/Boom/Transporter UI only. Most people seem to be using other 
means of controlling their devices...

The way I reproduce is to:
1. turn on classic squeezebox and play some music with Spotty 
2. Then I "pause" the music
3. Then I turn off classic squeezebox (I know you said it doesn't turn
off, but I basically hit the power button so the classic shows nothing
and looks like it's powered down)
4. Then I wait just over 1 hour and during that time I don't interact
with the LMS at all (I don't play local music or do anything with LMS)
5. Then I turn on the classic Squeezebox using the remote and navigate
to "My Apps" and to "Spotty" (at that point it hangs)

Let me know if this works for you.

Ok, here's some good news for you: you're not crazy or seeing ghosts. :-)

I've just been able to reproduce the issue on my Transporter. No error, 
device fully working when controlled remotely, but totally locked up IR 
remote interface.

Did the same happen before? 

No. This is why I think the "spotty.exe stopped working" might be
related to the "hold LEFT button" suggestion and that the crash might
have happened at the same time I saw the classic reboot.


Or on another SB?
The Classic SB is the only hardware SB I own.

I should clarify that my guess is that the windows error likely happened
when I used the "press LEFT and hold" suggestion you made to break out
of the "hang", since it was at that point that the Classic appeared to
reboot and I'm guessing that's also when spotty.exe stopped working, but
just a hunch at this point. What are your thoughts on next steps to
better diagnose or test?

To answer both your questions:
I believe the windows error was at the time of the "lockup", yes. 
I have not been able to replicate a "hang" while trying to get into
Spotty using either the Web UI or iPeng, both of which I've tried to
reproduce the error numerous times and unable to get the "hang", rather
things work fine. 

Any thoughts on next steps for diagnosis or testing?

It was a dialog popped up on the screen (and I believe there was also a
Windows "cmd"/shell window open behind it)...the dialog said something
like "Spotty.exe" has stopped working

It went dark, was unresponsive to any remote control commands (so
perhaps it was rebooting?), so I clicked the "power" button on the
remote and it came to life.

alerting me that "Spotty.exe" had crashed.


Hm... that's new, isn't it? What exactly was the message? Was it a 
Windows message, or something in LMS' server.log?

powered off.


SB Classic never really powers off.


I powered it back on and could then get into the Spotty plugin without
any "hang" or issue.


Can you describe what happened when you thought it was off and you 
turned it on? There's basically booting, disconnected, connected. On/off 
is only really possible when pulling the plug. So... did it reboot? Or 
did it go dark and after a while showed the menus again?

Okay, 

Test 2:
I went into music library and played a couple different songs. 
Then went back to "My Apps" (while a song was still playing from music
library) and when I tried to get to "Spotty", it did hang there (but I
did not see the circular gauge, perhaps because the song was playing
from music lib, instead just hung at "Spotty" and was unable to
control/navigate away).

So, I pressed and held LEFT on the remote and after about 4 to 5 seconds
of holding it, the Classic did respond by going back to the menu where
we select the LMS by name/IP. 
When I selected RIGHT from there it hung at "Connecting to server..."
but that's it...

When I went back to the Win 10 PC, I saw that there was a dialog
alerting me that "Spotty.exe" had crashed. 

Thoughts?

I see, okay thanks for clarifying. 

I have not tried another player, can try that. I did try another
computer running LMS (a MacBook Pro ) and wasn't able to reproduce the
issue, so seems like it's something relating to this Win 10 PC running
LMS that has surfaced recently, since it worked fine for many, many
months. I'd like to figure out and fix the issue on this PC (instead of
switching to another machine to host LMS) bc this PC is always
on/running, so it's the ideal machine to run LMS and be ready when I am
to play music from the Classic SB. 

Given that I can reliably reproduce the issue, does anyone know of what
logging options we might want to look at or other diagnostics I can do
to try to figure out where/why things are getting hung up and if it
might be related to something timing out/expiring?

I was trying to rule out networking issues causing a hang (network
packets not reaching the desination).   

Have you tried any other player, other than the SB that you have?

I'm confused by your response. The issue is that the classic SB is
hanging when trying to go to the Spotty plugin. 
Unclear to me why you say you're 'not sure' based on the fact that the
web interface power button works correctly.

So the power button on the web interface accurately reflects the state
of the squeezebox, and it does turn off when you power down from the web
interface.  Then I'm not sure.

Have you tried a different player.or even just a software player
like Squeezelite-X

The power button on the LMS web page should mimic the power state of the
player.   Is your windows machine going to sleep?
