any ideas how to block skype? I also using dansguardian content filtering.
Appently (I read) it is difficult to block skype..

[squid-users] Installation Path

Hi all,
I installed Fedora Core 4 and then I installed squid 2.5rc12. The path for the
squid.conf is /usr/local/squid/etc/squid.conf  but I noticed that the squid
that came with FC is under /etc/squid/squid.conf. How can I overwrite the squid
that came with FC? Even I installed webmin and the defaults seems to point to
the squid that FC came with. I know that I can change the paths but I would
like to do it in the proper way..

any help please

I found FC as the most convenient for squid as I am running it from a long
time and so far no cribs... :)

I've tried squid on all the FC's i.e. FC-1,FC-2  the latest is on FC-3
which works fine.

Thanks for your reply but I tried to remove the security restictions regarding
activeX from the IE but still the same. I even tried from differnt PCs and
different OS behind the squid. Something that I didn't told that on the same PC
I am running the linux firewall could it be the problem?

Looks like pop up goes from ActiveX control, but not because http
authorization required. So it's look into your browser
ActiveX/security settings.

And yes, I tried this behind a squid 2.5.10.

Hi,

can someone try to access the following site behind a squid proxy and see if a
window will pop up and prompt for a username and password.

The ip is 195.158.110.252

I am trying to access this site behind my squid proxy server 2.5 but the inital
page will come up correctly then SUPPOSE THAT a pop up will prompt for a
username and password but it does not. If I try this from a windows xp pc
connected directly to the internet it will work fine.

What could be the problem??

Hi, I am trying to monitor a security system webcam through port 80 and it is
working fine over the internet BUT if I try to access the site behind the squid
proxy server the authentiction pop up will not come up. But from a PC connected
to the internet(no squid) it works fine. It seems like the pop up is being
canceled. Does some one has a cue of what could be the problem.

hi all,
I m having a problem with squid 2.5 stable1. Often it gives an error '(113) no
route to host' but if I restart squid it works fine for about 15 to 30 mins.
squid is accepting connection on port 3128. I have also few iptables to accept
connection from the internet and nat to another server (on the internal
network). The ports I am accepting from the internet are 80, 8000, 25 and 110.
does any one have an idea of what is the problem. if any one needs more info
please tell me.
