Thanks for all the leads!

I checked permissions up and down, as well as spelling and special chars
and there is nothing detectable.

squid -k check
fails regardless of the user, squidGuard works ok if started from the command
line, so I have to come back to some kind of error in the squid.conf file.

What does 'Bungled squid.conf line' really mean? Is that only a syntax
check or
is the rewriter actually executed and tested for results? The text
itself is ok,
I can copy/paste it to the command line and it launches squidGuard without
problems.

The nice folks at the squidGuard mailing list have not been able to
shed light
on this so far, so I'm trying again here.

Thanks for any ideas!!
Caro

[squid-users] Bungled Squid.conf

2012-04-15 Thread Carolyn Longfoot

Hello,

I am trying to use squidguard and per the instructions given I have added
url_rewrite_program /usr/local/bin/squidGuard -c
/usr/local/etc/squid/squidGuard.conf

to squid.conf and this line is giving the 'bungled' error message on
# squid -k check
FATAL: Bungled squid.conf line 2600: url_rewrite_program
/usr/local/bin/squidGuard -c /usr/local/etc/squid/squidGuard.conf
Squid Cache (Version 2.7.STABLE9): Terminated abnormally.

Some information:
# ls -l /usr/local/bin/squidGuard
-rwxr-xr-x 1 squid squid 90590 Feb 25 17:09 /usr/local/bin/squidGuard

# ls -l /usr/local/etc/squid/squidGuard.conf
-rwxr-xr-x 1 squid squid 1495 Feb 26 19:53 /usr/local/etc/squid/squidGuard.conf

Not sure if it makes any difference but just in case:

# uname -a
FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE #0: Sun Feb 26 15:51:16 CET 2012 amd64

SquidGuard passes all it's own checks and returns the proper answers for test
URL's so I'm pretty sure that SG itself is not the problem and without the
offending line 2600 Squid runs normally.

Sorry, at the end of my wits, what is wrong with my url_rewrite line?

Thanks,

Caro

[squid-users] Failover Configuration

2003-11-10 Thread Carolyn Longfoot
All,

I have a setup where I have Squid installed locally on a laptop which,
depending on where it is, home or office, forwards it's queries to the
'real' home or office proxy, both called 'http-proxy'.

Now from time to time I work from home via a VPN, which is when Squid does
not find it's parent cache anymore. In VPN mode 'http-proxy' does not work
anymore and when I enter the fully qualified name dirrectly into the
browsers proxy configuration (http-proxy.mycompany.com) it's ok.

Of course I don't want to keep changing proxy entries, so I configured
squid.conf as follows, hoping that the right parent would be chosen when the
default is not available due to VPN:

cache_peer http-proxyparent8000 8001 default
cache_peer http-proxy.mycompany.comparent8000 8001
Maybe (probably) I just don't understand the selection algorithm but any
help is welcome.

Cheers,
Caro

Re: [squid-users] AdZapper with Win NT

2003-07-10 Thread Carolyn Longfoot
Ah so good you're there. Using the suggested line below worked like
a charm.

Thanks a lot,
Caro

I think you need to make a cmd file wrapper for starting the helper
alternatively tell Squid to run perl with the helper as argument.
redirect_program C:/path/to/perl.exe C:/Squid/etc/squid_redirect.pl

[squid-users] AdZapper with Win NT

2003-07-10 Thread Carolyn Longfoot
I know I know I know that technically this is not a Squid question but if
anybody has managed to get AdZapper to work with Windoze then please post
the details here. I use the installer package from here
http://albaweb.albacom.net/acmeconsulting.it/download/squid.htm and use PERL
from ActiveState. Testing the AdZapper script manually works ok (without any
changes to the script) but I can't seem to be able to properly add it to
quid.conf. I called the script squid_redirect.pl and added this line to
squid.conf:
redirect_program C:/Squid/etc/squid_redirect.pl

After restarting the service Squid does not find any page anymore, so I
suspect somehow everything gets stuck in the redirector. I have seen an
error that Squid exited because the redirector queue was full.

Anybody?

Cheers,
Caro
