Design question Permission check in struts action

2002-06-28 Thread Dirk Storck

I have the following system:

I have a LoginDataForm called loginDataBean in my seesion wich contains
username, password and roles the user have. Than I have some actions
accessing EJB through helper classes. For example I have a action
/order/detail/show. If that action is called by a normal user he can only
browse order details from orders wich belong to him (that action retrieves
an OrderVO wich contains the userId/username). If it is called for example
from an administrator he can browse details from all orders.
That is not the only action wich behave like that. I have a
/user/show/personalData as well with shows the data from a certain user. If
the requested user is not the same as the user logged in and he is an admin
he will see the details else not.

CAN anyone give me a solution how I can solve that problem global without
having to check that in every action one by one ?

Many thanks!

Accessing a global forward is easy. Access it the same as you would a local
forward.
return mapping.findForward(globalForwardName);
Hope that helps.

How can I fill a form from within another action?

2002-04-17 Thread Dirk Storck

Hi,

I need your help.

I have a form FormA and a action ActionA (for login purpose) wich do some
usercheck and is used as session data and I have a second form FormB and
ActionB (for registration).
The Form- and ActionA are called from a login.jsp if an existing used logins
in.
The Form- and ActionB are called from a registration.jsp.

Now my problem.
If an user registers new I would like to have that the user is automaticaly
logged in. The problem is that the ActionA expects that FormA exists with
the entered login data from that user. At that point no bean of type FormA
exists and so a call/forward to the ActionA does not work.

Any suggestions how to solve the problem ?

Thanks !

How can I use a background process with JBoss

2002-02-13 Thread Dirk Storck

Hi,

I want to do the following:

I have a ShoppingCart.
The users clicks on order and the items from the ShoppingCart are moved to
my OrderBean. ShoppingCart and OrderBean are EJB's.

Now it comes to the problem. The order must be proccessed in background
cause it will have a long durration.
After the order has be proccessed the user should be notived somehow.

How can I achieve this with JBoss and Struts ? What would be the best way to
implement this

Many thanks any any suggestions are welcome!!!

There is now a multi-applications support.
Some new classes have been added. A lot of methods from the servlet have
been
moved in different classes, like the RequestProcessor class.
Tiles need now to provide a subclass of RequestProcessor in order to catch
calls to
forward/include. Also, instruction to use this subclass is specified in
struts-config rather than in web.xml.

Betreff: ResultSet and ListObject - List Screens

I am looking to (hopefully) use Ed Hill's Display Tag Library to do sorting,
alternate colored rows, and pagination of my list screens. Other
alternatives
I've seen are HTMLTables and JSTL's forEach tag.

What I'm wondering is if there are any utilities that anyone knows of to
copy
a ResultSet into a ListObject (I've seen Ed's tag use them, as well as the
Nested Tag).

Even better, I'd love to use Simper in association with one of these.

Thanks,

Matt

struts-action reading property set in config

2002-01-29 Thread Dirk Storck

Hi I have the following action defined:

action path=/admin/account/create parameter=create validate=true
unknown=false scope=session
type=com.tecmath.cms.mt.struts.UserDataAction name=userDataBean
set-property property=test value=test /
forward name=failure path=accountDef redirect=false /
forward name=success path=/user/account/show.do redirect=false /
/action

How Can I now read that property test within my Action?

Thanks !

JBossSX

2002-01-17 Thread Dirk Storck

Hi,

I am using JBossSX and Struts. I have defined a LoginAction where I do the
login with UsernamePasswordHandler and LoginContext. I use the
org.jboss.security.auth.spi.DatabaseServerLoginModule. The login works fine
and I get a message that I am authenticated but if I access another action I
get

java.rmi.RemoteException: checkSecurityAssociation; nested exception is:
java.lang.SecurityException: Authentication exception, principal=null
java.lang.SecurityException: Authentication exception, principal=null
no stack trace available
2002-01-17 15:18:39,767 [Thread-11] DEBUG
(QuickSearchAction-createResultList) - RemoteException
java.rmi.RemoteException: checkSecurityAssociation; nested exception is:
java.lang.SecurityException: Authentication exception, principal=null
java.lang.SecurityException: Authentication exception, principal=null
no stack trace available

wichs seems that I am not logged in. I have to check it the login is correct
in my LoginAction and not later if I call a secure EJB so I cant use the
ClientLoginModule

CAN anyone help?

Any comments are welcome!
