yep, in fact Windows 10 (10.0.17134) is the minimum version that is
somehow stable.

status update:
- installer:
http://subsurface-divelog.org/downloads/test/subsurface-4.8.4-66-g2b9da3504b05.exe
- windows 10 version 10.0.17134.523
- latest BT(LE) drivers from motherboard vendor

- Perrdix AI needs removing the device and adding it back again but
download work consistently after doing that every time.
- OSTC+ stable, works first try with no reconnect needed.

seems like Subsurface is a non-factor for BTLE Windows failures at this point.

Fired up my dual boot windows 8 box, and I'm unable to download from DC. In
fact, Subsurface does not see the local bluetooth controller (latest
v4.8-branch build). I verified an old test build (4.7.3.339 or something)
that I had sitting around on that machine, and that one does work normally.
Obviously, I did repair my DC on OS level (successfully). No changes at all.

You don't mention which version you tried.
I uploaded a 4.8.5 Windows build a little while ago. In my VM it does see
the virtual BT adapter - which the earlier 4.8.4-66 build did not.

And to be clear, the GitHub build is currently broken for Windows/BT
you need to really try this one:

http://subsurface-divelog.org/downloads/subsurface-4.8.5.exe

I think I have a new Docker image ready that we can use on GitHub, but I
doubt the hotel I'm staying at (or the conference that I'm attending)
would appreciate if I tried to upload a 2.3GB docker image. So I'll fix
THAT problem when I'm back home.

My current plan is to try to get all of the binaries ready and then go to
sleep. I'll post announcements tomorrow as it sucks when I post the
announcement and then am offline for 8+ hours when things break :-/

My bad. I pulled the build from GitHub releases, so build with the
improper Docker image.

So, I did a second Windows 8 try using my OSTC3. Configure DC works
"always" when connecting over BT, but fails over BLE. Download sort of

So, I got around trying the BT download from my OSTC Sport:

1) BT LE worked.

2) BT classic didn’t. I tried about five times and always got “Could not open
device…” and “Operation not supported”. I tried with 4.6.4 (a random version I
found in my Download folder) and there BT classic worked the first time I
tried. So it seems, something got broken here.

3) The “Bluetooth mode” selector does not seem operational (in filtering
classic/LE).

2019-01-23 Thread Dirk Hohndel
Let me know if I am boring you...

Nearly melting my poor laptop to the table while at LCA and listening to
the talks, I was able to create a working MXE environment with the latest
Qt available in the upstream MXE repo, including QtWebKit and Lubomir's
BT/BLE changes.

Now I need to clean this up and create a new clean container that can be
pushed to docker hub and then used on Travis.

Using this environment I created yet another new Windows installer and I
now believe that I now have working binaries on downloads/test for Windows
and Mac. I would appreciate if people could test especially the Windows
version with BLE dive computers.

Of course it's now night in Europe, so not sure how quickly this could
happen. I don't have a physical Windows laptop with me - on Mac and
Android I can confirm that things are working reasonably well.

The Android version was pushed to production. The iOS version is stuck in
review.

I may still release the desktop version tonight - depending what else I
find, I guess.

It does indeed. For complicated and boring reasons I don't have access to
the system on which I apparently fixed the Windows build and which I
appear to have created the Windows binary for 4.8.4 on. I THOUGHT I had
pushed all of that to GitHub, but never tested that it seems, and now I
may or may not be able to re-create that while on the road. I'll continue
to try recreating this environment on my latop, but at this point I'm
guessing this may not happen until I'm back at home, which I find
extremely frustrating.

I'll keep you updated on progress with all that, and in the meantime I
think I'll just push the Android package to production so we can at least
point people to Subsurface-mobile on Android if they want to download from
the Teric.

Maybe that should be https as well? I cannot test here as FB integration wants

works fine now for me. Didn’t manage to make it trip. Could not try BT download

Weirdly, on the only other Mac I have access to right now while traveling
(that one is on Mojave) the app on the DMG doesn't open, even though
codesign says it is correctly signed. Directly executing the Subsurface

Re: Subsurface 4.8.5 and Subsurface-mobile 2.1.6 soon

2019-01-22 Thread Dirk Hohndel
Yeah, this is all taking a lot longer than I hoped. Being on the road has
its downsides.

No, I haven't been able to draft those announcements and push them to
Transifex. I'll try really hard to do that today.

Right now I'm having small issues with APK signing that are slowing me
down...

Any translations to be done (announcement 4.8.5 and 2.1.6)?

As I mentioned, I want to get two quick updates out for all the platforms.
You can look at what I am thinking of shipping at the v4.8-branch. It's
possible that I skipped your favorite fix - my apologies. I'm planning to do a
4.8.6 (or maybe 4.9 - new filter widget could be the excuse to rev
that) in a couple of weeks... or more precisely, when we are happy with the
filter widget.

I will push a few more commits in preparation in the next couple of hours.
If I don't stumble across anything too ugly I might publish the release tonight
(New Zealand time), more likely I'll do it at some point tomorrow.

If you find anything horrible, please let me know. I'll try to exercise all of
the build environments that I use for the release builds - these will have
oddly low version numbers - master is at 4.8.4-191, but the v4.8 branch is at
4.8.4-63... we can argue that the way these 'versions' work makes no sense, but
that's besides the point.

If I remember I will follow up to this email with links to the various binaries
that you could test if you wanted... or I'll just release it and have our users
be the testers :-)

What is available right now can be found here:
https://github.com/Subsurface-divelog/subsurface/releases/tag/continuous-v4.8-branch

Certainly the Windows installer and the (unsigned) arm apk (the arm64 has BLE
issues) are worth testing as is. Also of course the AppImage.

I'll upload a Mac DMG, upload a signed apk to downloads/test on our web server,
try to get an iOS build ready and also trigger the distro builds on Launchpad
and OBS...

Anyway - yell if you find something that I should include before 4.8.5

Thanks
