Apparently iPhone app crashes when exiting Subsurface. (Swipe from bottom to
get a “list” of open apps and then swipe it out to close it)

Was first thinking this to be related to downloading dives, but seems to happen
without any actions before closing.

Did send developer feedback from one crash dialog, if that is of any use.

Although a bit late, but I’ve been testing the latest version IRL. No issues
found (importing, editing and syncing to the cloud) except for one minor issue.
When downloading for the first time this trip, it wanted to download alle the
dives again. Afterwards, no issue what so ever. Might have been en issue with
not syncing it with the cloud before I tried to download.

Kind regards,

excellent timing: For today, I had finally arranged to go diving. In the iOS
App, everything worked as expected, I downloaded my dives number 500 and 501

Only that I had to sent the font size to small so that all the widgets could be

So from what I can tell the AppStore forces me to move to API 31. That changes
the way permissions are handled. In order to do so correctly, I need to change
the tooling that I use to create the binary. So... yeah, major surgery to the
build setup.
Nothing impossibly hard, just time consuming and not really what I hoped to
spend this weekend doing.

Was just about to send my report when I noticed that this showed up. Here is
some additional information:

On my OnePlus 8T nothing happens if I click on the icon in the launcher. If I
long-press and go to "App Info" and click "Open" I get the splash screen for
1-2 seconds then it shuts down. Doesn't help to clear cache/storage. Same
behavior after uninstalling and reinstalling.

On my Pixel 6 I get "App isn't installed" if I just click the icon in the
launcher. If I long-press and go to "App info" and click "Open" it starts up
just fine. Fetching latest dives from cloud storage worked and browsing the the
dives looks good. Didn't do any heavier testing than that though.

Quick heads-up... after way too long a break (long story), I am in the process

The iOS app is under review; a very quick local test seems to indicate that it
isn't completely broken - but there's a ton of stuff that I didn't test
(downloading from a dive computer, statistics, editing, etc).
The Android app is still resisting a little more... while I wasn't looking a
few requirements for Google Play Store apps have changed and I am chasing those
down... but hopefully that will be ready for review as well fairly soon.

So depending on the speediness of the review teams (it's a holiday weekend in
the US, but whom are we kidding, none of the reviewers are in the US...), you
should be able to test the two new apps fairly soon. And I would really
appreciate somewhat more rigorous tests before I release these to the public.

There are some oddities on OnePlus phones.
One thing to note, though, is that because of an issue with the way we use
Kirigami, theme size changes only take full effect after you restart the app. I
tried hard to get this sorted out, but there are still elements that don't
resize correctly when you change the setting. I thought that the profile would
be correctly redrawn, but haven't checked this on my own OnePlus phone (given
how many people had problems with those I broke down and bought one a couple of
years ago).

Yes, I have heard that from a few people. No idea what causes that
I'll admit that I have a Pixel and after trying for a couple of days with the
gesture navigation I went back to the button based one as the gestures were
driving me nuts.

Re: please test: new beta Subsurface-mobile apps

2022-03-12 Thread Jason Bramwell via subsurface
Just has a look on my girlfriends phone at the current production version of
Subsurface-mobile and that has even smaller fonts so yes, although this test
version has fonts smaller than previous test versions they are still larger
than the production version of the app. I’d say some of the fonts on the
production version may be a tiny bit on the small side (not problematically so)
so the existing test version is an increase upon those and makes things easier
to see.

Thanks for the feedback. And I agree. What I have is definitely a hack and
not the right way to do this.
Berthold and I are trying to figure out what the correct fix would be, but
so far haven't quite gotten there, yet.

On my iPhone XR this looks great, yes the fonts are slightly smaller but they
look more balanced with the profile now. I think this now looks lust like the

Another small tweak to the profile on mobile - so far only available on iOS -
dealing with a small hiccup on Android.
This brings back profile icons (yay) but also makes the fonts slightly

This definitely needs to go into the FAQ.
The GF shown is the one in the Subsurface settings - that's what we use to
calculate the ceiling.
There is no generic way for us to know which GF is set on your dive computer.
There's only a couple where we can get that information at all.

You can set the GF values under Settings -> Advanced. It'll calculate the
ceiling with those values, which I don't think the mobile app did before.

The toggles for showing DC ceiling and calculated ceiling don't seem to do
anything though.

please test: new beta Subsurface-mobile apps

2022-02-26 Thread Dirk Hohndel via subsurface
Both the iOS and Android beta channels just updated to my latest test builds.

These should fix the scaling of profiles - please test and let me know if there
are still issues with that.

Also, on Android this adds a significantly better way of sharing log files -
they are now added to the support emails as attachments, but can also shared
via dropbox or other apps that are willing to open text files.

Thanks
