Re: [sugar] creative commons and licensing in sugar (fwd)
After the #sugar-meeting tech discussion today, I filed http://dev.laptop.org/ticket/7551 to ask Eben to finish the mock-up work discussed here three months ago. The general plan for this feature is in the minutes at http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/DevelopmentTeam/Meetings#Creative_commons_licensing_functionality_in_the_journal . -- Asheesh. -- Forwarded message -- Date: Mon, 21 Apr 2008 17:23:55 -0700 (PDT) From: Asheesh Laroia [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Eben Eliason [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Sugar Mailing List sugar@lists.laptop.org Subject: Re: [sugar] creative commons and licensing in sugar Website: http://lists.laptop.org/pipermail/sugar/2008-April/005119.html On Tue, 8 Apr 2008, Eben Eliason wrote: I was not certain when/if this work would be merging with the Journal, and so it wasn't on my todo list until now. That sounds great, and my apologies about my own late response. I have uploaded two of them to http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Creative_Commons#Screenshots ; the third was about choosing a default license, and now we have the vague feeling this should be in the sugar Control Panel, about which I at least know very little still. I hope this helps. I'm on the Sugar list, so continuing the discussion there will keep me in the loop. -- Asheesh. -- HELP! MY TYPEWRITER IS BROKEN! -- E. E. I've snipped away the parts I have no comment on, but: On Mon, 7 Jul 2008, Martin Langhoff wrote: Well, there is quite a bit of thinking that needs to happen here, and I am working on something else at the moment. We need a good strategy to sidestep the PKI requirements of full blown SSL. A few weird schemes come to mind, all nasty :-) I'd be interested to hear them. - SSL overhead at the network layer is very significant. Network bandwidth and latency on the local link are valuable resources. Do it once at authentication time and use an HTTP cookie after that (that is available to HTTP sites in the same doamin). - SSL CPU overhead at the XS end is moderately significant. [sugar] Failure building evince-olpc
I'm trying to sugar-jhbuild in an Ubuntu Gutsy environment. Since last Friday (when I first tried to sugar-jhbuild), I've had these problems building evince-olpc. There seems to be an argument type mismatch; below I'm including the end of the sugar-jhbuild make. Since it failed on Friday, I renamed the 'source' directory out of the way so that sugar-jhbuild would try to get the source fresh in case of any updates. I got the same error. Here's what make tells me: make[2]: Entering directory `/home/paulproteus/sugar/sugar-jhbuild/source/evince-olpc-0.3/pdf' if /bin/bash ../libtool --tag=CXX --mode=compile g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I.. -I../backend -I/usr/include/gtk-2.0 -I/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/include -I/usr/include/atk-1.0 -I/usr/include/cairo -I/usr/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libpng12 -I/usr/include/poppler/glib -I/usr/include/poppler -I/usr/include/gtk-2.0 -I/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/include -I/usr/include/cairo -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libpng12 -g -O2 -Wall -Wno-unused -g -O2 -MT ev-poppler.lo -MD -MP -MF .deps/ev-poppler.Tpo -c -o ev-poppler.lo ev-poppler.cc; \ then mv -f .deps/ev-poppler.Tpo .deps/ev-poppler.Plo; else rm -f .deps/ev-poppler.Tpo; exit 1; fi g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I.. -I../backend -I/usr/include/gtk-2.0 -I/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/include -I/usr/include/atk-1.0 -I/usr/include/cairo -I/usr/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libpng12 -I/usr/include/poppler/glib -I/usr/include/poppler -I/usr/include/gtk-2.0 -I/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/include -I/usr/include/cairo -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libpng12 -g -O2 -Wall -Wno-unused -g -O2 -MT ev-poppler.lo -MD -MP -MF .deps/ev-poppler.Tpo -c ev-poppler.cc -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/ev-poppler.o ev-poppler.cc: In function 'char* pdf_document_get_text(EvDocument*, int, EvRectangle*)': ev-poppler.cc:616: error: cannot convert 'PopplerRectangle*' to 'PopplerSelectionStyle' for argument '2' to 'char* poppler_page_get_text(PopplerPage*, PopplerSelectionStyle, PopplerRectangle*)' ev-poppler.cc: In function 'void pdf_selection_render_selection(EvSelection*, EvRenderContext*, GdkPixbuf**, EvRectangle*, EvRectangle*, GdkColor*, GdkColor*)': ev-poppler.cc:1450: error: cannot convert 'gdouble' to 'cairo_t*' for argument '2' to 'void poppler_page_render_selection(PopplerPage*, cairo_t*, PopplerRectangle*, PopplerRectangle*, PopplerSelectionStyle, GdkColor*, GdkColor*)' ev-poppler.cc: In function 'GdkRegion* pdf_selection_get_selection_region(EvSelection*, EvRenderContext*, EvRectangle*)': ev-poppler.cc:1466: error: cannot convert 'PopplerRectangle*' to 'PopplerSelectionStyle' for argument '3' to 'GdkRegion* poppler_page_get_selection_region(PopplerPage*, gdouble, PopplerSelectionStyle, PopplerRectangle*)' ev-poppler.cc: In function 'GdkRegion* pdf_selection_get_selection_map(EvSelection*, EvRenderContext*)': ev-poppler.cc:1487: error: cannot convert 'PopplerRectangle*' to 'PopplerSelectionStyle' for argument '3' to 'GdkRegion* poppler_page_get_selection_region(PopplerPage*, gdouble, PopplerSelectionStyle, PopplerRectangle*)' make[2]: *** [ev-poppler.lo] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/paulproteus/sugar/sugar-jhbuild/source/evince-olpc-0.3/pdf' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/paulproteus/sugar/sugar-jhbuild/source/evince-olpc-0.3' make: *** [all] Error 2 *** error during stage build of evince-olpc: ## Error running make *** [23/43] Hope this helps - let me know if I can be any more use.
