Re: [sugar] creative commons and licensing in sugar (fwd)

2008-07-17 Thread Asheesh Laroia
After the #sugar-meeting tech discussion today, I filed
http://dev.laptop.org/ticket/7551 to ask Eben to finish the mock-up work
discussed here three months ago.

The general plan for this feature is in the minutes at
http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/DevelopmentTeam/Meetings#Creative_commons_licensing_functionality_in_the_journal

.

changing very little (likely adding a button to a toolbar). It would
be really helpful to have some screenshots of their current ideas so
that we can work them into the plan for the new Journal and think
about the interactions we want to support.

That sounds great, and my apologies about my own late response.

Could someone post some exemplary screens to the wiki page?

http://dev.laptop.org/ticket/3529 has had three screenshots for 7 months
according to Trac. I have uploaded two of them to
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Creative_Commons#Screenshots ; the third was
about choosing a default license, and now we have the vague feeling this
should be in the sugar Control Panel, about which I at least know very
little still.

I hope this helps. I'm on the Sugar list, so continuing the discussion
there will keep me in the loop.

Re: [sugar] (another) WebKit port of Browse

2008-07-07 Thread Asheesh Laroia
I've snipped away the parts I have no comment on, but:

Well, there is quite a bit of thinking that needs to happen here, and I

And me, too - just quick notes:

 - XS installs/deployments will be done in so many different scenarios
that we cannot address the promises needed the conventional PKI
infrastructure. We need a good strategy to sidestep the PKI requirements
of full blown SSL. A few weird schemes come to mind, all nasty :-)

I'd be interested to hear them.

 - SSL overhead at the network layer is very significant. Network
bandwidth and latency on the local link are valuable resources.

Do it once at authentication time and use an HTTP cookie after that (that
is available to HTTP sites in the same doamin).

 - SSL CPU overhead at the XS end is moderately significant.

Same answer as above.

 Hi

Due to the git repository structure I have to keep a different directory

Okay.

EducationalToolkitActivity.py imports parse and model .py But tle log
shows module missing.I have also edited the activity-info file. But
still it shows No module named as parse

Can you:

(a) provide the full source?, and
(b) provide the exact error message?

[sugar] Failure building evince-olpc

2007-09-24 Thread Asheesh Laroia
I'm trying to sugar-jhbuild in an Ubuntu Gutsy environment. Since last
Friday (when I first tried to sugar-jhbuild), I've had these problems
building evince-olpc. There seems to be an argument type mismatch; below
I'm including the end of the sugar-jhbuild make.

Since it failed on Friday, I renamed the 'source' directory out of the way
so that sugar-jhbuild would try to get the source fresh in case of any
updates. I got the same error.

Here's what make tells me:
