[Sugar-devel] Recommendation - sugar-love Trac Report
Hi all, Small recommendation. Create a Trac report that is clickable from the front of http://dev.sugarlabs.org that lists orphaned tickets identified by sugar-love. This will make it very easy for new contributors to find something that they can get involved with. [Sugar-devel] Restoring journal backups created with 0.82 on 0.84
Martin, Rodolfo Aldo, one of the technicians in Caacupe, reported failure to restore backups created with Sugar 0.82 after the machine has been upgraded to Sugar 0.84. Frankly, I don't understand how the restore script is supposed to work: it rsyncs the files into ~/.ds-restore-tmp and then quits without moving them where the datastore is. I tried moving the files manually into ~/.sugar/default/datastore and restarting Sugar, but nothing shows up. How does the datastore detect an old format that needs updating? Besides this problem, it would be useful to add a control panel icon for listing available backups and restoring them. I didn't write those backup/restore scripts and you're not linking or attaching them either, so the short version is I dunno!. The only back/restore scripts I'm aware of (outside the XS stuff) were written by dsd (cc'd). Is anyone working on this? I'm working on the XS-based backup/restore and there is definitely such listing there :-) and you can restore particular files from particular dates... cheers, m -- mar...@laptop.org -- School Server Architect - ask interesting questions - don't get distracted with shiny stuff - working code first - http://wiki.laptop.org/go/User:Martinlanghoff ___ Sugar-devel mailing list Sugar-devel@lists.sugarlabs.org http://lists.sugarlabs.org/listinfo/sugar-devel

The DS versioning happens in the DS code itself. It does look at the version file during startup, and it upgrades it if needed. IIRC. [Sugar-devel] Sugar Labs GSoC 2010 Flyer - please review
Hi all, If you have 30 seconds free, please review http://issuu.com/timclicks/docs/sugarlabs_gsoc_2010. I've gone for simplicity over . My main consideration was tying together growth children's learning. I think you'll smile when you see the result. If people are relatively happy with it, we can start forwarding it around. I've used a web-based solution to avoid clogging up people's inboxes. If you would like the PDF or raw SVG, do let me know. Re: [Sugar-devel] [ASLO] Release Read ETexts-19
Gabriel, I finally tried your Leer Pen Drive, and other than not being able to figure out how to copy a file to the clipboard I was impressed. It looks like something that Sugar could use. I may try to put together a variation on it soon that would allow copying from thumb drive, CD's, Data DVDs, etc. to the Journal directly. It would be nice if one of the things Activities were allowed to write to was external drives mounted on /media. That would enable anyone to put together a Journal-like Activity and yet would probably not do too much harm securitywise. James Simmons On Mon, Mar 15, 2010 at 12:58 PM, Gabriel Eirea gei...@gmail.com wrote: I find the idea of multiple Journal Activities appealing, and I think I could write Sugar Commander myself, except that it would only work for copying from the external media into the Journal, not from the Journal to the media. I like this thread. This is a consistent demand from teachers in Uruguay. Some time ago I created LeerPendrive [0], which allows the user to browse the usb drive with a directory structure and copy the files to the clipboard. (From the clipboard they can easily copy them to the journal.) In spite of being very simple, it has been very used. It is a pity that because it is just an activity you can't copy both ways. I like the idea of integrating something like this in the sugar core so you can do exactly that. [Sugar-devel] aslo download count
I fixed the download counter for aslo last night. It is now correctly parsing the load balancer files rather the on of the node's files. I parsed the downloads from the last couple of weeks which were going through mod_proxy and not being counted. This is going to show up as around 300,000 downloads for the March 16. I did not feel comfortable changing both the load balancer and log parser at the same time.
