+1 to deleting the images, but maybe leave dextrose/patches/ for
historical reference? Some XOs in the field might be still running those
ancient images, and some of those patches were never accepted upstream.

G'day.

I agree that they should be removed.

On Sat, Dec 8, 2018, 10:33 AM James Cameron Harms are misdirection of users and filesystem size.

Any backlinks to these images (maybe on our wiki) will also have to be
updated / removed.

Thanks

Yes.

Harms are misdirection of users and filesystem size.

Further subdividing;

- on the misdirection, the images have bugs that have been fixed, such
  as since mitigated zero-day vulnerabilities.

- on the size, they increased time cost of backups or filesystem
  maintenance on the servers.

What are the gains in keeping these files?

I don't see the harm in leaving old stuff lying around if the disk has
plenty of room. Surely there's more important things to do :)

hour... or the Nepal thing and do 15 minutes from India :P
[07:49:47] -*- walterbender is looking forward to not being the one to run
meetings
[07:50:18] what got messed up?
[07:52:27] copy and paste error, is all.
[07:52:37] some country somewhere changed their offset to utc.
[07:53:35] I was a ploy to see if I could get some SLOB members

[07:57:28] Yes, lol
[07:57:39] hehe
[07:57:44] I was nervous
[07:57:46] Many times I had faced the problem of IRC blocking me
[07:57:49] lol
[07:58:34] the irc blocking may return, it depends on the war.
[07:58:44] so far, so good. For now.
[07:58:49] so work on your registration.
[07:59:01] and get a good irc client that knows how to do registration.
[07:59:07] I heard it is some guy in his bedroom in New Jersey.
[07:59:21] Quozl: s/bedroom/parent’s basement/g
[07:59:33] i heard it was a rogue ai.
[07:59:34] that explains it all
[07:59:38] walterbender: , rather
[07:59:42] one of those silly chatbots nobody needs. ;-)
[07:59:54] Well... we should get started
[08:00:01] Yup
[08:00:13] -*- MrBIOS returns to lurking
[08:00:34] welcome to the last SL oversight board meeting of
2019.
[08:00:43] Any SLOB members here?
[08:00:45] is samson joining?
[08:00:45] callaurrea,
[08:00:54] i am here
[08:01:00] samsongoddy is sammy
[08:01:05] ah ok :)
[08:01:10] One more and we have a quorum
[08:01:26] But we start regardless.
[08:01:35] #topic GCI
[08:01:44] We are entering the last week of GCI
[08:01:57] It has been really busy from the start
[08:02:27] great
[08:02:34] I'm here
[08:02:47] more than 500 students are participating
[08:03:08] i think the quantity and quality of coding is substantially
down from last year, and i think that is reflection of the number of mentors
who haven't made comprehensive contributions.
[08:03:33] but then, i'm only measuring pull requests and commits. not
the stuff that generates nothing.
[08:04:03] I think is it less about mentoring and more about the
tasks we made available
[08:04:07] is there a comprehensive list of GCI tasks that have been
worked on and completed, outside of the GCI web UI?
[08:04:17] it seems there is a transparency problem on that front
[08:04:30] That is a structural problem.
[08:04:50] Not sure how to fix it
[08:05:04] MrBIOS: as it is a competition, there is a private group
that has access, and limited review of task definitions. the more people who
have access, the greater risk of solutions being sold in advance to students.
[08:05:19] But I didn't get much input from devel when making
the initial task list before the contest began
[08:05:38] I understand.
[08:05:40] Its also a problem
[08:05:41] hmmm
[08:06:06] when does GCI wrap up?
[08:06:12] One week
[08:06:34] Around 5 days
[08:06:54] It would be good to organize the tasks in different
buckets and see if we have data that support the most successful ones
[08:06:55] The bottom line, somewhat correlated with Quozl 's
observation, is that the areas where there are active mentors get the most
attention.
[08:07:06] Lots of work done on Music Blocks, for example
[08:07:11] and Sugarizer.
[08:07:12] great
[08:08:06] has any work been done on Core Sugar during GCI?
[08:08:13] very little
[08:09:01] none on Sugar, some metadata fixes for activities, some API
changes.
[08:09:11] To be honest, I got caught by the earlier dates of
the program this year. Not a good match with my work schedule.
[08:10:45] thanks for the update, i'm fine to

2018-12-07 Thread Anmol Mishra
Sorry, I will be busy during the meeting for today's meeting. I would like
to thank Walter and Ibiam for making me a mentor, it's been a great
experience for me. I made mistakes but Walter and ibiam kept me showing the
required path. As per the update, I tried my best to give feedback to
students as soon as possible and kept myself busy with fewer mentors count
task. In total, I have interacted with 45 different tasks.
