[Sugar-devel] Request for feedback data

2019-03-04 Thread Nikhil Mehra
Hello Sugar Community,

I am Nikhil Mehra, an undergraduate student at Indian Institute of
Technology Roorkee. I have been recently contributing to Sugar Labs
(@NikhilM98). I am looking forward to participating in GSoC'19. I can see
some great ideas on the GSoC ideas page. I want to understand the
perspective and requirements of the teachers, students and the volunteers
regarding Sugar and Sugarizer. I've gone through planet.sugarlabs.org and
I found the nice things communities are doing for the education of the
children. I loved palexo.blogspot.com blog. I found some valuable feedback
on monsoongrey.wordpress.com blog, however, the last post was from 2013 so
it appears to be outdated.

Is it possible if I can get the latest feedbacks if they are documented
somewhere? It would be a great help in providing improvements up to the
requirements of the users.

Warm Regards,
Nikhil Mehra

Hallo List

I have installed Sugarizer from F-Droid to my phone and would like to
know how to go about adding additional activities. I would like to add a
chess activity for instance. On the OLPC it is easy to add activities.
Actually, it's not just on the OLPC side...it's just as easy to do this
with The Fedora-based Sugar on a Stick installations of Sugar, which is
available for armhfp (Pi3+), i386 and x86_64. Of course, it's not
Android, but the OLPC is far from the only way to make use of the Sugar
environment.

Here it is not that obvious. I have read some of the informantion in the
wiki and searched in the archives of the mailing lists, but I am still
not clear on whats steps to take to accomplish adding additional
activities on android.

Thanks in advance.

Evert

You're welcome. You have a point. Mailing lists are quite an old
technology now. Most organisations are pushing toward other
technologies because of changing expectations.

Let us know if there was anything we could have done to make this more
obvious.

You must rebuild Sugarizer.

https://github.com/llaske/sugarizer#activities

"You could distribute Sugarizer with whatever activities you want. To
do that, you first need to adapt the content of the activities
directory to match your wish: removing activities you don't want to
distribute and adding in this directory new activities you want to
include." [...]
