Re: [Sugar-devel] Regarding development of activities

2019-12-15 Thread James Cameron
You must use a remote desktop protocol of some sort. You might try
VNC, RDP, X11 over TCP, or some other software.

However, this makes it very hard for you to be sure what you observe
as a regression is a real problem for a native use of Sugar. I really
cannot recommend it.

Sugar is intended to be a complete learning environment; running it in
any other way will be misleading.

Re: [Sugar-devel] Issues in building sugar

2019-12-15 Thread James Cameron
What document are you reading for building Sugar?

Please copy and paste the errors to mail next time; an attachment is
not necessary.

The errors show that build dependencies are missing. I can't advise
how to resolve these without knowing what operating system you are
using.

I'm puzzled by your list of required directories, as it looks
familiar. I used /usr/src/sugar-activities in Sugar Live Build, and
it hasn't been used anywhere else, to my knowledge. Each of the
directories is a git clone, so you can find the source code repository
by typing "git remote -v".

If the directory is not present, you aren't running Sugar Live Build,
and that would also explain why you have no build dependencies.

Re: [Sugar-devel] Starting with the contributions to sugar labs

2019-12-15 Thread James Cameron
Sugar Live Build is an ISO 9660 installer image that contains an
operating system with all source code ready to use. Run it as a VM.
(You don't need to rebuild Sugar Live Build).

We have an obsolete and deprecated repository "sugar-build". Don't
use it unless you have the time to set up the continuous integration
infrastructure it relied upon. That infrastructure is gone. Budget
about three weeks and an AWS instance. ;-)

Re: [Sugar-devel] sugarizer not working in chrome (Lionel Laské)

2019-12-15 Thread James Cameron
I agree with what Lionel said.  Also, I say;

"no sugar3 module found" suggests either;

(a) you haven't installed packaged Sugar on Ubuntu, or;

(b) you are using python3 instead of python2 to run setup.py, or;

(c) you've found a bug in the sugar web template.

You probably need to install autoconf-dev or autoconf-devel. Googling

Hi Swathi,

The fructose set of activities source code can be found in
/usr/src/sugar-activities/* while the source code for sugar,
sugar-toolkit-gtk3, sugar-datastore and sugar-artwork can be found in
/usr/src/sugar*.

You can build sugar by running autogen.sh, make, make install - this
applies to sugar* repos - https://github.com/sugarlabs/sugar#building
