Re: [Sugar-devel] seeking help to enable nepali keyboard input for XO-4

2014-06-16 Thread Basanta Shrestha
Hi all,
We are planning on ordering the next lot of XO-4s and I need some
suggestions on which keyboard model to choose -membrane or
hard/clicky one. We had membrane one for our first lot and keyboard
switching was very convenient on that model. One reason not to choose
hard/clicky one is that it doesn't have key for language switching (
correct me if I am wrong) -I have one spanish hard/clicky and it
doesn't have that key - key 56 at
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Keyboard_layouts. Hard/Clicky on the
other hard is more convenient while typing. Please suggest.

[Sugar-devel] How to change onscreen keyboard layout.

2014-04-29 Thread Basanta Shrestha
Hi Everyone,
On my X0-4 with 13.2.0, when I flip the screen to book reader mode, I
get some arabic keyboard layout. The only layout setting I have on my
oob configuration file is under olpc-os-13.2.0-xo4.ini as below:

[base]
default_kbd_model=olpc
default_kbd_layout=us,np
default_kbd_variant=olpc2,olpc
default_language=ne_NP.UTF-8
-

where 'ne_NP' = nepali and Nepal
'np' is our layout which is devanagari.

Thank you

 Yeah, it's not quite that simple. You need to leave the interaction
 with the OLPC mode/variant in place. Add the following lines to the
 end of the file:

 partial alphanumeric_keys
 xkb_symbols olpc {
   include np
   include group(olpc)
 };

 Now it should work.

Re: [Sugar-devel] seeking help to enable nepali keyboard input for XO-4

2013-11-09 Thread Basanta Shrestha
Thank you so much Walter and sorry that I am very new to these thing. What
I have understood so far is :

.mfg-date will list the predefined set to stored data. And we need to set
KL to 'np' ( this the name of maping file for Nepali under
/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/
) and we need to set some value ( np? ) to KV as well. And we need to
decide on a key combination to invoke the keyboard switching between the
default(English) and Nepali.

Since there is no physical : Language key, I think keyboard combination
like alt+space bar should be easy. Please suggest if there is other
consideration we need to think of.

But I am still wondering how we could alter/change the stored data to our
preference or if we can do it ourselves. Please suggest.

Regards,
Basanta

 So I think what we should do is a combination of the suggestions made
 previously: if you set the manufacturing data (KL) [1] to tell the
 laptops that they have Nepali keyboards, you will be part of the way
 there. But we need to make a new variant (KV) for the hard/clicky
 (HS) keyboard. As I mentioned earlier, we need to decide what the key
 combination for switching languages will be, since there is no
 physical :Language key.

I have made some changes in translation in

file and not PO file I was wondering from where can I download the above
translated PO file.

Also, I need to translate sugar activities like getbooks, Implode, boxes,

translate those activities. Please suggest how it works. Thank you.

Re: [Sugar-devel] [fedora-arm] ARM Environment too slow for build

2013-06-30 Thread Basanta Shrestha
Exactly as you suggested, I didn't have to make tarball. Linking the
firefox file to required location did the job. It just required some minor
modifications like os.execl('.launch.sh','DUMMY')  and replacing
service_name with bundle_id on activity.info file and I could run the
EPaath activity perfectly.

Now there is just a minor problem and that is when I close the activity
after using it is says EPaath failed to start. I guess it has something
to do with activity not being suitable with new sugar interface.

  I am looking for a firefox tarball and not a rpm. We have one activity

 I'm not going to do you a tar ball bundle, I've not got the time when

 problem better I might be able to explain to you how to properly deal
 with your Sugar Activity so that you don't need custom builds of

Ah yes, you are right, the latest available versions on

 Well it was trying to retrieving from file://root/local but it didn't

 Hi Basanta,

 Think this has something to do with firefox wanting a specific xulrunner
 version. Can you confirm what version is installed with: rpm -q
 xulrunner.

 I have a workaround that I used with F14 that should still work with
 this situation. Which repos are enabled in olpc-so-builder when you
 generate the image?

 Jerry

  Looks like an incompatibility with xulrunner, which hasn't been
  successfully built on F17 in a while:

  Maybe Peter has some comments.

  You could try an older version of firefox to match the latest (old)

[Sugar-devel] Statically Built Chromium for my XO

2011-08-10 Thread Basanta Shrestha
Hi,
I am looking to install chromium on my XO. Recently I downloaded a
build from http://build.chromium.org/f/chromium/snapshots/ and tried
to run it under the XO. Without much surprise, it complained about lot
of missing libraries. What I am looking for now is a chromium which
has been build statically. Can anyone point me a link to such a file
or a process to do so.

Specifications:
XO-1
Sugar: 0.82.1
OLPC release 9 ( Joyride)
