Totally agreed, it's fine to regress in some features if that is needed in order to keep supporting the core features. Also, my work was on a somewhat old Read. I was hoping Read's maintainer would use my branch to port mainline, with whatever design for the epub view the maintainer considered a good idea. Who is the Read maintainer these days? AUTHORS still says Sayamindu, but AIUI he stopped working on Sugar stuff. He still intends to keep involved as much as his studies allow, we lost all contact for some weeks because of a technical issue. That said, I think to remember he was looking for someone to take over maintenance of Read.
