[freenet-support] Java.io.EOF Exception

2005-06-15 Thread Mel Charters

Hello,
Will someone tell me what START-freenet.sh (Fred 0.5) was supposed to
have been doing when a java.io.EOF Exception occurred as shown in the
following fragment of the freenet.log file:

*
Jun 13, 2005 7:47:51 AM (freenet.node.Main, main, NORMAL): loaded
temp bucket factory
Jun 13, 2005 7:47:51 AM (freenet.node.Main, main, NORMAL): Loaded
bucket factory
Jun 13, 2005 7:48:04 AM (freenet.node.Main, main, NORMAL): Skipped
reference - truncated: java.io.EOFException:

Jun 13, 2005 7:48:13 AM (freenet.node.Main, main, NORMAL): seeded routing table
Jun 13, 2005 7:48:14 AM (freenet.node.Main, main, NORMAL): starting node
*
How do I solve this problem, download a new copy of Freenet and start over?

Matthew,
Thanks for answering my call for help.

Just means your seednodes.ref is truncated. Shouldn't be a big deal. How
many connections do you have (web interface - advanced mode - open
connections)? How many node references (web interface - node status -
routing table)? What was the original problem?

I have not yet been able to get Firefox 1.0.4 to run
http://localhost:/. I get a message from Firefox saying, The
connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost:. I
have made all the recommended changes (using about:config). I have
not set up any proxies for accessing the internet, do I need to? I am
running MacOSX with a router and a firewall set to pass FNP traffic.
I am on a cable modem using a static IP address.

While monitoring listen port (7984 as shown in freenet.conf) I see no
FNP packet traffic at all. But Fred0.5 seems to be running (top
reports 9 threads, 165 mach ports, and about 70% cpu usage, ps
reports status RN eg: runnable, low priority.)

[freenet-support] Hey Everyone, My first Q

2005-06-15 Thread Eric Gentemann
I have got Freenet up on my good rig , Opteron 150 on a DSL connection.

I went into the NodeConfig app and set a new path and size limit (10
gigs) on a old IDE drive I scavaged.

I love you guys and all but you don't get space on my 74 gig Raptor ,
mostly because I run this a system/game drive.

Do I need to reset the node to get the new path for the data store to
drop there or is config file updated to reinitialized during run after
a set period ?

Thanks,
AEC216

Yeah, That did it, Thanks for the info.
Another Q though, god damn, there is some serious slowness. Request
for most keys is set at 20 hops. I either time out or the never get a
hit within the 20 hops. Any suggestions or is the newness the node
affecting me ?
