Re: [freenet-support] Wot broken

2011-05-06 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
I already got the note that the database might been broken. So I tried to open
it wich did not work.
Then I deleted te WoT database and started up agian. I did have to create a new
identity :((
The node acts weired. When I restart it the floghelper does not want to load.
In the menu there is
the last item floghelper, anyway (but not in the list of plugins) but when
cliched it tells it can not
connect to the database. If I let the node reload the pluging from freenet that
works and then
there are two menu options floghelper in the menu. Both of them work.
When I try to generate a net identity the request and insert URI are displayed,
so i note them down.
When I click Create it Java cpu usage goes to 122% (just as high as it can get)
and sometimes drops
a bit to 85% but stays high. This goes on for hours. In the end no new
identitie is created.

I deleted everything in the plugins dir and after that the node started to
download evrything agian.
At the end of it the node still had the weired behavior as described above.
Is it time to reinstall this node? What files do I need to save in order to
keep my keys, identities and flog?

Regards,
Jelbert

Yep ... a few active downloads -- about 30MBs each. (One got completed
much earlier in the day -- but nothing unusual was happening during the
problem peaks.) It happened again last night [2][3], suspiciously
almost exactly 24 hours after the last time. I didn't stop my node this
time, and it "fixed" itself (at least the plateau) after over 2 hours,
although disk IO was still quite high throughout the night [2] and
early morning.

libNativeThread* will only be created one per restart, and *should* be removed
on shutdown (but may not always be). Bloom files ought to be deleted but may be
leaking... :|

[freenet-support] Freenet 0.7.5 build 1372 (biggish build)

2011-05-06 Thread Matthew Toseland
Freenet 0.7.5 build 1372 is now available. Please upgrade, it will be mandatory
May 11th, and makes 1370 mandatory immediately. Changes include:
- Significant further fixes to the RecentlyFailed code. This *should* improve
performance of the mechanism itself, squashing more requests for over-popular
keys and thus reducing the average time taken for failed requests for chat
keys, and *may* also fix download stalling problems that have been reported.
- Small changes to load limiting. We will now use an estimate of how many
requests we can run safely based on a target time between sending blocks given
our limited bandwidth, as well as the usual output bandwidth liability limits.
This should only cause rejections very rarely, because the limits are reduced a
bit from 1369, which introduced it (but didn't use them for actual rejections).
- Minor improvements to the web interface, including a cleanup button for
removing all finished downloads, and to the rabbit-hole theme.
- Clean up bogus newlines in noderefs. This is not 100% reliable, but is only
needed when noderefs are exchanged as text e.g. over IRC; long term I expect
most users will exchange them as files.
- Keep full noderefs for our friends, and fetch them if we don't have them.
Make them available on the friends page.
- Minor fix for node to node file transfers, append .part to the file until
it's finished.
- Translation updates to Dutch, German and Swedish, and some improvements to
english strings.
- Better mechanism for changing cooldown parameters, will be used by chat
plugins which poll lots of identities to poll some of them at different
intervals.
- Config changes related to default directories. Backwards compatible, but not
forwards - if you revert to 1371 or earlier you may need to edit your config
file.

Please upgrade! Thanks.

Hi,
just concerning your remark about IP changes, this is not a problem,
just get a Dyndns (free) account.
Then, your Dyndns IP will appear for the people to find you (always the
same) and they will be forwarded

to you through Dyndns services.
