[freenet-support] Downgrading Java on OS X

2005-06-21 Thread Jon Simon
Go to /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/ and
delete the 1.4.2 folder.

I also edited these files to say 1.4.1 instead of 1.4.2.
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info-macos.plist
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A/Resources/version.plist

If that doesn't work, then download the 1.4.1 installer after you do
all that and reinstall.

[freenet-support] From startup to data, not bad at all!

2004-12-19 Thread Jon Simon
In my experience, coming from a cleanly installed node (fresh
partition), it takes about 20-30 minutes to be able to get FIND. The
reason it takes me even that long, I think, is because my machine has
only a 300mhz G3 to play with, and it takes a lot of churning just to
load up Freenet. After running Frost for 24 hours, I'll still have
only 15-20 connections, but I'll have a bunch of messages in there to
read. This experience has been pretty consistent through the past
year with various versions, the only difference being that older
versions would establish more like 50-60 connections overnight.
