[freenet-support] Cant connect

2004-09-01 Thread Phill
Hi there
Im new to Freenet and I am not having any
success in accessing any of the links @ http://localhost:.
I get the following error when clicking a link.
-

Couldn't retrieve key: [EMAIL PROTECTED]/TFE//
Hops To Live: 15

Error: Route Not Found

Attempts were made to contact 1 nodes.

  * 0 were totally unreachable.
  * 1 restarted.
  * 0 cleanly rejected.
  * 8 backed off.
Route Not Found messages mean that your node, or the rest of the
network, didn't find the data or enough nodes to send the request to.
You should retry, with the same Hops-To-Live; if it persists, there may
be a problem (check that your internet connection is working). Try
reseeding your node, and if that doesn't work, contact
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Im not sure what all this means, any help would be appreciated.

Best regards
Phill.

Shoot. I don't know what that means either. Try stopping the node and make sure (use
ps or top) that it actually exits before you restart it? Only thing I can think of.
That and/or see if there's a newer snapshot available...

Thanks for the help.

Now I got an other Problem, I don't get anything not even an error.
After changeing the seednodes.ref file the number of nodes increase up
to 21. The table status is:

Contacted node references: 0
Backed off node references: 0
Total Trials: 303

And under:'Node Information: Recent logs' are lots of errors

Are all nodes full or why happend this?
--- end of quote ---

Hello,

I had the same problem until I added some more node references to my seednodes.ref file. As I understand it, the nodes whose refs are included with the software package are hopelessly overloaded, so you have to "prime the pump" with some other, less-saturated node refs.

I have been posting references from my node periodically -- they are available at http://www.dartmouth.edu/~marionba/noderefs.html. Instructions are there too. It could've been coincidental, but my freenet performance got dramatically better after I added some more seed nodes.

Good luck!
