I wonder if you are thinking in terms of Unix or Linux. On Windows I'ver
never heard that repartitioning would combine separate hard disks. ?
Windows 2000 at least has something similar to the JOIN command we saw
with early versions of DOS. I was told once that NT's volume manager
could combine partitions on different drives, but I've never done it in
practice.

If you're running Windows NT/2000 you can combine several disks using NT's
software RAID implementation (volume set or stripe set). In NT4, just
shift-select several chunks of free space in Disk Administrator and create a
volume on them. I don't know how it's done in 2000 but I would guess it's
probably done similarly on the disks page of the Management Console.

As I don't have a Windows system to hand, the details may be incorrect.

Stephen

2002-11-25 Thread Niklas Bergh
I guess he means that if you have a look in your datastore directory you
will notice multiple directories 0,1,1a and so on. You can symlink these
to a folder on another of your drives/partitions (and the files will be
stored there instead). An alternative can be to mount your
disks/partitions directly under one or more of the directories in the
datastore folder (but I'm not sure I would recommend that, to
unflexible).
