Good job Tony answered, my experience is with exactly one rev2 debug

ARGH!
moin the 2nd

my freerunner is back to life .. strange thing ..
i just connected to my powerbook (as external pwr-source instead of
wall-charger) and inserted battery and it turned on ..

does anyone at OM know what's going on there?!
overnight i tried some scenarios without any success ..

ciao, morlac

p.s: Christoph: Entwarnung - ich würde nur verdammt gerne wissen, was
da passiert ist.

 moinmoin

this night my freerunner got similar symptoms.
i wanted to reboot my debian on sd while testing some python-code via
'reboot' on ssh and suddenly little freerunner freezed. i pulled
battery and charger out, waited a minute or so and inserted the
 battery again.
on powerbutton-press just a little crackle from speaker and a blink
from aux-led occure and that's all. no further sign of life.
i also tried to enter NAND/NOR but without success. battery says
 4.15V so i think it's not dead.

 ciao, morlac

p.s: Christoph: Wie sieht's bezüglich Garantie aus, wenn der FR
 defekt ist?
Hatte den einzelnen FR bei Dir bestellt, als Du ihn noch für 299,-
 angeboten hast.

I was updating some packages in 2008 latest image when I thought my
freerunner suspended. Probablem is is that it doesn't come back and
won't reboot even by holing the power button.

I can'teven get it to come up in the NAND/NOR flash boot menu.

Any ideas? Battery dead? Tests to run?

Re: Sound quality in calls.

2008-09-14 Thread Daniel Hedblom
Hi,

2008/9/14 Nicolas Dufresne [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
Is the noise worst when put your finger on the audio jack ?

Its worse depending on how i hold the phone but never good, just less
or more static. The real problem is the volume level thats turned down
so low people cant hear me at all.

This looks like
the famous buzzing noize which is described here as a hardware bug mixed
 with bad alsa settings.

Is this why the mic is turned down so low?

Well, i have tried 2008.7, Qtopia, FSO milestone 2 and 3 and debian.

The sound has been described as if i sit in a barrel. Its very low
with much interferance and echos. Im beginning to suspect somethings
 wrong with the actual hardware.

Is there any way to get decent outgoing sound thats described

answers, im getting a bit confused.

You've supplied too few details. Which images from which dates have you
 tried,
and what exactly is wrong with the audio?

Re: Sound quality in calls.

2008-09-14 Thread Nicolas Dufresne
I think that would be a good guess, I don't think amplifying the noise
would make so much good to the sound quality.

By the way, anyone from Openmoko has information about this ? When
investigation finishes, will their be a repaire program in place ? I
know you prefere working each case individually, could we get the email
address we should send our request to ?

Thanks,
Nicolas

Heh... I discovered this by accident some time ago, running 2007.2
stock with upgrades... shut down the phone since not using it; an hour
later, I tried to power the phone on again, and discovered it
wouldn't, just like Michael describes (I got no click/AUX LED blink
like you describe). Pretty amazed at how the battery could possibly
discharge in one hour with the phone *shut down*, I plugged in the
wall charger, and it came on on its own... and when it booted, batt
charge was pretty much above 90% - so I still have no idea what that
was all about. Have only encountered it twice more; once when running
Qtopia, with a near-full batt, and once with Qtopia and the battery
was almost drained, so no wonder it wouldn't come on.

I observed this once with 2007.2, once with Qtopia. Michael said he's
using 2008.08... and you're using Debian... so very low odds of it
being rootfs-specific, right? Kernel-related, or some bug with power
  handling in h/w? Dunno...

same experiences here with 2007.x and 2008.x-asu.
sometimes i need to remove the battery multiple times before it is
 working again.
