Re: OpenMoko Webcam

2009-01-12 Thread Neil Benn
Hello,

Sorry but I have another dumb question - suppose I want to install
the new kernel I have just compiled. I have run through all of the steps
above and the dpkg command works fine. Now I have done this - how do I go
about installing the package. I'm not sure if I should run a 'make install'
or execute an apt-get install command. Thanks for all your help.

Cheers,

Neil

filename should be v4l-compat.ko *not* v4l1-compt.ko

 Hello,

Thanks, I've compiled the image now but I am slightly troubled as
I am looking for the files which contain the video for linux drivers
(v4l1-compt.ko) in the file system. However I cannot find them - if they
were compiled, should I be able to see those files?

 Cheers,

Thanks for your answer,

On the dialler, there is a slider for volume - is it fully up?

The slider has no effect on the issue. Note that also the other end cannot hear
anything. Sound is completely death.

Grab one of the state files (from the wiki: gsmhandset.state ?) and
 reboot after installing it.

The statefile is ok. The first phonecalls are working just fine. After some
time
it stops working.

 This helped me.

Is this a known issue or is there already a solution for this?

Re: Once a whiner

2009-01-12 Thread William Kenworthy
I am currently building shr-unstable to try - been running a day or so,
though had a few hiccups. Have tried shr before and liked it - just
that it never ever registered so was a bit useless. I am hoping that
building the image will allow me to track down why everything that uses
the gsm0710mux fails to register - its almost like the gsm chipset locks
up with the SIM I am using (vodafone.au).

Re: OpenMoko Webcam

2009-01-12 Thread Neil Benn
Hello,

Whne I scan through the list of file in the package I cannot see
the modules for the video for linux installed, however the config file
definitely has the option for that turned on. I have attached both files to
this email - I've also tried compiling these separatly with* make
driver/media/video/v4l1-compat.ko*. This starts up and gives me the
following:
---
debian-gta02:/usr/src/linux-2.6-openmoko-20081103.git7172ec57# make
drivers/media/video/v4l1-compat.ko
  CHK include/linux/version.h
make[1]: `include/asm-arm/mach-types.h' is up to date.
  CHK include/linux/utsrelease.h
  CALLscripts/checksyscalls.sh
stdin:1097:2: warning: #warning syscall fadvise64 not implemented
stdin:1265:2: warning: #warning syscall migrate_pages not implemented
stdin:1321:2: warning: #warning syscall pselect6 not implemented
stdin:1325:2: warning: #warning syscall ppoll not implemented
stdin:1365:2: warning: #warning syscall epoll_pwait not implemented
make[1]: `drivers/media/video/v4l1-compat.o' is up to date.
  MODPOST 292 modules
---
The command then finishes with no complaints but the is no .ko file there.
Errm - I'm kinda stuck now, not sure what to do - any tips would be greatly
appreciated!!

Cheers,

Neil

Re: OpenMoko Webcam

2009-01-12 Thread Neil Benn
Hello,

This is just a quick question but I wonder if this is my area of
concern :

1) apt-get source linux-image-2.6.24-openmoko-gta02
2) modify linux-2.6-openmoko-20081103.git7172ec57/defconfig-gta02 by hand or
with menuconfig
3) sudo apt-get build-dep linux-image-2.6.24-openmoko-gta02
4) fakeroot apt-get --build source linux-image-2.6.24-openmoko-gta02
5) sudo dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.24-openmoko-gta02*.deb

When I execute the above commands, running command 3 downloads the sources
and unpacks them - is this overwriting the changes I have made to
defconfig-gta02 and causing the kernel to compile with the standard options
again - without my additions to tell it to compile the video4linux drivers?

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Neil
