That's kind of scary - did I got it right that in order to use OM TR 4 I
have to flash Qi instead of u-boot?

i think the critical thing is that you are using a *recent* version of
whichever bootloader, be it uboot or qi

http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Om2009#Installing

that said, i'm sticking with qi, and development there looks much more
active. there's no incentive i can see to stay with uboot

I thought it was working too until I got a couple calls. The callers
hung up after not being able to hear me at all. Isn't anyone else having
this problem? I'm using the latest u-boot, kernel and root in testing, all
dated May 21st, on a stock Freerunner, flashed to v11 of the GSM firmware.
I suppose I can see if qi fixes it, but every time I try qi I get WSOD.

I'm using TR4 - I had to tweak the gsmhandset.state file (as mentioned by
someone else in a thread - I can't recall where right now - sorry).
Without the tweak I was able to receive calls, but the audio quality was
horrible - really bad background buzz.

I am using u-boot - I upgraded it probably 6 months ago. Don't recall the
version off-hand, but I can check if you need me to.

Re: Best graphics performance?

2009-05-26 Thread Warren Baird
'graphics performance' is a pretty broad category - can you share some
details about what exactly you are trying to do?

Are you interested in general UI response? blitting rasters to the
screen? Rendered 2d vector stuff? 3d?

FWIW, I've generally found that QTExtended feels a bit snappier to me than
the X based distros under general use - although I haven't quantified that.

That's your WLAN module. It's strange that it would change from working
(associating) to failing like this (no response to SDIO) within just
two seconds.

Your log shows the wall charger getting plugged in immediately before
things go wrong. Is this a necessary part of the sequence that repeats
the failure ?

and rebooted and clicked connect.

Soon after, /etc/resolv.conf was changed,
nameserver 10.177.0.34
nameserver 10.163.140.242

AND

ping pachai.net returned
PING pachai.net (67.18.176.172): 56 data bytes

which of course is standard behavior for
a corporate firewall that one is not authorized on.
(the DNS servers seem to have ping disabled)

I've been wondering about this, specifically because Navit seems really
slow on SHR or Debian. I'm using a OSM of Germany, although I'd like to
have the whole of Europe covered if it were usable. With just Germany, the
FR struggles to keep up with the car on the motorway. At lower speeds, it
just about manages it. Navigation is a completely impossible, as the extra
load means the graphics just can't keep up.

Anybody else struggling with Navit?
