Another Freerunner For Sale

2009-02-11 Thread Quentin Hartman
I've found I don't have time to hack around on the Freerunner like I'd
hoped, so rather than let it collect dust, I'd like to get it in the
hands of someone who can. I've most of the original packaging and will
be including all of the original kit (512MB SD, laser stylus, AC, etc)
and the carrying pouch. I'll also include the headset if I can find
it. It's currently running the Qtopia distro. It's in like-new
condition, it's hardly left my office. Oh, and it's the GSM 850 model.

I'd like to get $300 for it. I'll ship it for free anywhere in the US
or Canada. Elsewhere in the world will depend on the cost. I will
entertain other offers. I'll only do payment via Paypal.

Please respond off list if you are interested

Wow. This information needs to be featured PROMINENTLY, both in the
software itself and in the getting started section of the wiki. It
negates virtually all of my complaints about the new keyboard. The
biggest one that remains is that this functionality is virtually
impossible to discover on your own. Adding some visual cues to
indicate this exists will do wonders to improve the out of box
experience with it. I was extremely frustrated with the keyboard when
I first tried it, and I know I am not alone in this.

dfu-util on 64-bit?

2008-08-09 Thread Quentin Hartman
I have been trying to flash my Freerunner for days, everytime failing,
everytime getting cryptic errors that I have not been able find
online. I just got access to a 32-bit machine, and it is working!

So, it seems that dfu-util does not work on 64-bit (at least not
64-bit Ubuntu Hardy).

If you are seeing dfu-util fail with a -62 error, it is likely
failing because you are running 64-bit

Strange, I just tried that version on two different machines and it's
still failing the same way.

Re: Om-2008.8: Cannot make or receive calls

Using the released Om-2008.8 image I cannot make or receive phone
calls. When the phone boots I am asked to enter a PIN. This appears to
be accepted and I can send and receive SMS messages.

However when I try and make a call it fails with the message No phone
call is possible. Reason GSM Phone is not registered. No network. No
connection information is displayed on the bar at the top. Everything
 worked with 2007.2.

I'm seeing the same behavior...
