SHR Logo contest starting now
- [SORRY FOR CROSSPOSTING] -- SHR desperately needs a logo. We have none so far. Mmmh, mmmh, mmmh... BINGO. A Logo contest: Creative people of the world, SHR lovers, join together and submit proposals. We will have a community poll, deciding on the logo to be used (core devs reserve the right to veto though :-)) Preliminary deadline of the contest is end of September 2009. There will be no montetary prices, but you'll get praise and your design will be seen on millions, ehh, thousands, ehh, well maybe on dozens of phones every day... If you are not graphically disabled, please consider to create and submit an entry. If you are, tell your graphic designer friend to create and submit an entry. If you don't have artsy friends, you can still pay an advertisement agency to create a logo for us, can't you? Please submit your entries on our shiny logo contest page over at: http://wiki.shr-project.org/trac/wiki/LogoContest The SHR Team ___ support mailing list support@lists.openmoko.org https://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/support

Yorick Moko wrote: it's very clear that atm the FR doesn't have the horsepower it needs to run navit Hehe, do you want to imply that the FR will gain more horsepower over time? Highly unlikely :). Optimizing navit and reducing other apps RAM usage will of course help, but I doubt that the distros will make the hardware much faster ;P spaetz ___ support mailing list support@lists.openmoko.org https://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/support
Re: [SHR] Vibrate only on alarm
Jeffrey Ratcliffe wrote: ATM, the alarm app rings a nice old alarm clock ring. Is there any way of getting it to honour the profile, and when needed only vibrate? Not without changing the source code significantly. elementary-alarm is a test app in the enlightenment source repository that doesn't know anything about profiles (and probably shouldn't need to rely on them either. spaetz ___ support mailing list support@lists.openmoko.org https://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/support
Re: Browsers and Wifi for OM2009
Alok G. Singh wrote: I'm trying to get it on OM2009. The dependency problem for minimo (from opkg.org) is gtk+-fastscaling deserves to die a long slow death, and packages that depend on it are broken. gtk+-fastscaling is just gtk+ these days, and you should be able to override it with -force-depends or something like this ___ support mailing list support@lists.openmoko.org https://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/support

I use that to to turn on WiFi and GPS, using the same methods as above, but with another resource ('WiFi' and 'GPS'). This works at least on FSO milestone5.5 (built at home). Regards - Ingi Hi Ingi, Do you have the code for your GUI posted anywhere, is it GPL ? Hi Angus If you need code to to that, check out my little vala-settings (to be renamed in the near future to shr-config or something like this). It's an elementary GUI written in vala, so no python overhead, and it can be used to turn on/off GSM/wifi/BT. GPS is on my list. Personally, I use it to pop up a profile selection screen when pressing AUX. The license is GPL2+ and the code is here: http://github.com/spaetz/vala-settings/tree/master (as I said, due to popular request, I will rename it soon, so that location might change a bit). a .bb recipe for it is in the shr overlay. spaetz -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAkncXLUACgkQVYX1jMgnoGLqWgCfWGd5pqeVwdgqnjoEKmWo1m9n zZkAoIrLnGCO0LmyN6fNax1GzVh9dqZm =O1T4 -END PGP SIGNATURE- ___ support mailing list support@lists.openmoko.org https://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/support

Re: Entering the PIN for a SIM card
arne anka wrote: good lord, what usabilty genius created that? to begin with, everybody aroudnyou can read your pin and then, you stay there and tap the screen in the faint hope it might work somehow? and, just out of curiosity, what do you do when you need to correct a typo? the screenshot shows not delete or backspace or so. Not that I'd defend that keyboard, but backspace is by stroking from right to left over the keyboard and enter is by stroking from top to bottom. Showing the entered stuff, is what you normally want on a keyboard, that it shows it for password entries is, err..., debatable..., but probably no explicit design decision :) spaetz ___ support mailing list support@lists.openmoko.org https://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/support

Re: Device somehow powered down - would not power up again
Toni Mueller wrote: thank you for pointing this out. I'll try to check that next time. It means that I can't boot and work on the FR w/o battery, though, because I need the device to be connected to a computer in order to do maintenance. Maybe this will be reworked sometime, because it's highly counterproductive (imho)? I am not a hardware guy! but... USB only delivers 100mA until a higher rate is negotiated. But for this to happen you need to have the kernel and the usb drivers loaded already, so it is kind of difficult. And the FR uses more than 100mA when booting. spaetz ___ support mailing list support@lists.openmoko.org https://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/support
BrokenMoko (burnt)
My FR's battery didn't recharge although I had it plugged in all night. When I removed the cover I saw why, teh SIM card was partially molten and the moko burnt below the SIM card. (see image: http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/8655/mokoburned.jpg) It's an GTA02 bought Dec 28th 2008, and had never done any hardware tinkering with it, so I'll return it to the dealer. Just wanted to let you know that while I think that the device is hot, it should not become hot... spaetz ___ support mailing list support@lists.openmoko.org https://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/support
