Give it a try and see if it's still accurate.

Some observations:

1. Using the June 23 nanobsd snapshot, RRD Summary reported ~330GB of
traffic from June 1 to June 30. On July 3 it reported over 700GB of
traffic from the 1st. In other words it appeared that it not only
failed to reset its counter on July 1, but it had also somehow doubled
its count.

2. I just updated to the July 4 snapshot and saw this on the console
after the automatic reboot:

Syncing packages: RRD Summary
Beginning package installation for ...
Removing package...
Removing RRD Summary components...

Warning: fwrite(): 63 is not a valid stream resource in
/etc/inc/pkg-utils.inc on line 816

Beginning package installation for ...

Syncing packages:.
Executing rc.d items...
 Starting /usr/local/etc/rc.d/*.sh...done.
Bootup complete

When attempting to load the dashboard for the first time it instead
loaded one of the package pages where I saw something like All
packages reinstalled, but it appears the RRD Summary package is not
installed.

3. I manually installed RRD Summary again from the UI. Now it is
reporting 50GB used since the 1st, which is not unlikely, and 772GB
for last month, which, as I stated, is more than double the amount it
was reporting only a day or two or three from the end of June, and is
therefore unlikely.

[pfSense Support] Phantom rules

2010-07-05 Thread David Rees
I've got a system (1.2.3, set up in a cluster) which has a couple of
phantom rules - rules that exist in the config.xml file, but don't
show up so they can't be deleted.

It appears that somehow they lost their interface element and since
all rules are keyed off what interface they are on, they don't show
up.

What's the recommended way to remove these rules?

It looks like I have two options:

1. Remove the rules manually from the config file from each system in
the cluster.
2. Download a backup, remove the rules manually, then restore the backup.

Suggestions?

Thanks

-Dave

[pfSense Support] bridge as a LAN interface : traffic blocked between interfaces

2010-07-05 Thread Guillaume Lederrey
Hello !

I have a minor problem with my new installation of pfSense 2 :

I have a pfSense 2.0-BETA3 box as a home router. The box has 3 wired
ETH ports and a wireless interface. It is configured as follow :

WAN : vr0
LAN : BRIDGE0
OPT1 : vr1
OPT2 : vr2
OPT3 : ath0 (wireless card)
BRIDGE0 : OPT1, OPT2, OPT3
There is a PC connected directly behind OPT1, and a switch connected
behind OPT2 with multiple computers behind it. pfSense handles the NAT
to connect to the internet and DHCP to all hosts.

I have a rule to allow all traffic from LAN to any.

Connecting from any of the interfaces behind pfSense can connect to
the net with no problem. But connections from a PC behind OPT1 to a PC
behind OPT2 fail. Using Wireshark, I can see that SYN packet are sent,
but no response is received (or ICMP echo request, with no echo
response).

What more should I configure to allow traffic between the different
interfaces of the bridge ?

Thanks for your help !

  Guillaume

Please check your setup against the instructions here:

http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,20917.0.html

Obviously you will have to adjust them to accommodate for your extra interface.

Once you have implemented the settings outlined in that thread please
post back with your findings.

Those are your options. When you delete an interface it orphans its
rules in the config (IIRC that's not the case in 2.0).

[pfSense Support] pfsense 1.2.3 Captive portal File Manager

2010-07-05 Thread Joseph Rotan
Hi,

has anyone tried loading a .png file format to pfsense 1.2.3 captive portal
File Manager since only .jpg file format is only allowed.

I'm having a .png file in which i would like to use since it displays on my
login .html page perfectly, can anyone advise how could we allow other
picture formats apart from .jpg file formats to be allowed in the File
Manager in captive portal.

Thanks

Joseph.

I'm using png files in a 1.2.3 install... just upload all files with
captiveportal- prefix such as captiveportal-header.png
Then you can call the image in your html as a root file such has
src=captiveportal-header.png
Just make sure you keep the total file size under the limit.
