The log isn't sorted, it's the raw output in forward or reverse order.

If you have an entry out of place, it's likely that the particular
process in question isn't respecting your time zone setting for one
reason or another. If you haven't restarted the firewall since changing
the time zone, doing so will probably get it all back in line.

Log sorting is set to newest first, however, the log sort is "randomly 
incorrect" (see screen snippet). I didn't see anything in redmine, thought I 
would check here first..
