The way to disable sounds is with the Mute Sounds checkbox in

That is actually menu Tools / Mute Sounds
At least in 2.5.1 on WinXP.

Now the bonus question:
Which option controls what sounds ?

pidgin search fails

2008-09-25 Thread Bob . Nix
OK, I need help here. I am not a pidgin developer; I don't know my way
around. Can someone tell me what file to extract from what zip, so that
the search function works?

Thanks.

This is an issue with GTK. There is a file you can replace in the GTK lib
to fix this issue. Search trac for it, unless someone else gives you the
link, let me know if you need more.

ok - next problem - pidgin 2.5.1 - I type a name, to allow pidgin to look
up the first match, as I have always done in the past; but only the first
character shows up in the search buffer and no useful name is found. What
am I doing wrong? Same problem when ctrl-F for a find.

pidgin lost focus

2008-09-25 Thread Bob . Nix
I have built a new machine; using pidgin 2.5.1 for sametime and IM access.
It seems that many of my apps lose focus randomly (that is, I cannot
identify a cause). In particular, I may be typing an email or an IM or in
Unix; and suddenly the current screen no longer has focus. No other task
gets focus; alt-Tab returns focus to this task; and another alt-Tab
returns focus to the prior task.

(Running Win XP Pro, IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T60)

Might this be a pidgin bug? Does anyone have thoughts on the topic?

Thanks,

Re: pidgin search fails

2008-09-25 Thread Bob . Nix
I shut down pidgin
backed up original libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll at C:\Program Files\Common
Files\GTK\2.0\bin
copied libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll into C:\Program
Files\Common Files\GTK\2.0\bin

  from
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/gtk+/2.12/gtk+-2.12.6.zip

The dll file, from zip, has Create date 1/29, size 625kb.

Same error. Accepts one character; then will timeout and return to same
screen.

Is a reboot required?

Bob,

Go to the link that Phil gave us (http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/4966)
and follow the instructions in this comment (#4) (
http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/4966#comment:4).

Just download the zip. Extract libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll and put it in your
%path%\GTK\bin\ folder. Replacing the one currently in there.

new, frequent disconnection to yim / no auto reconnect :-|

2008-09-25 Thread Geoffrey Lane
First off I dun know what you consider fatal error, but considering this is
a new issue (within days) and the acc worked flawless since I think this is
either protocol or yim changes. I keep getting error (0), logging into
website may fix and it says need to re-enable account.
I've already done this, recreated account and even my entire .purple
directory... Nothing is working. Is this related to yim service/protocol
changes or a known problem with pidgin? I have no other problems with other
services/games/etc during time, no failed wireless, disconnections, etc...
Running windows vista, latest sp and latest version of pidgin

Another thing, I think the reconnect should be set in preferences as was
before.. Maybee reconnect attempt and attempt reconnect on fatal
checkboxes, timeframe and retry count for either. If someone's already made
a plugin please share

Thanks,
Freeballer
