For protocols that allow you to add yourself to your buddy list you should be able to do that and see your icon if you want. If you set the icon for the account in pidgin (and possibly even remotely, though I'm not sure) you should be able to see it in the Modify Account dialog. If you set the icon for all your accounts in pidgin globally then you will be able to see it in the global buddy icon selector near the status selector at the bottom of the buddy list. installing Pidgin plugins on install
I am installing Pidgin and would like to have the Windows Pidgin Option setup upon install. How do you do that so that you don't have to manually go to each computer and set the correct setting? Hello, if this is related to QQ, then Pidgin 2.7.3 should also not work. But in fact pidgin version 2.7.3 works perfectly. You can setup a prefs.xml file that has the default settings you want and the install that in COMMON_APPDATA\purple\prefs.xml. You can find the COMMON_APPDATA folder by typing this into Start-Run (note the space): shell:Common AppData Keep in mind that this file is only read when the user doesn't already have a prefs.xml of their own. People have been reporting QQ broken since before 2.7.3, and there appear to have been no fixes. Maybe QQ have been phasing their users over onto a new server. We rushed a release out to do two important things--finish fixing the MSN certificate issue we thought we had fixed for 2.7.6 and fix the AIM SSL Handshake Failure problem introduced in 2.7.6.
