2011-07-28 Thread Mathieu White
Hello,
My name is Mathieu White (http://mathieuwhite.com) and I'm a graphic designer
currently working on an instant messaging app for iPhone. Ive been looking for
a dev just recently to help out with that aspect of the app. But I was
wondering if you guys do partnerships? You could release the app under your
name and just give me a part of the profits. It's been a little less than a
year now and I'm on my fifth redesign of the app. I feel like my current dev
isn't putting in the work it needs to move forward and I'm ready to part ways.
I'm really looking for a person or a team who can make it come to life. Anyway,
we can talk more into detail if you decide to get back to me. Which I hope you
do. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks for your time,
Mathieu.

Using this email to attempt to kill two birds with one stone.

Mathieu White, your first email made it to the list correctly, there was no
need to resend (despite what the MXit support contact told you).

MXit support staff, you have been subscribed to the pidgin Support mailing
list. That is why you are getting random pidgin support emails. People
haven't started just randomly emailing you directly with pidgin questions.

As such we would appreciate it if you would conduct your support on this
mailing list or at least send mail to the list indicate that you have
taken the support conversation off-list when you take support off-list
(which apparently you have been doing).

Additionally there is no need for you to instruct people to send their
mails to the mailing list (unless for some reason they have in fact sent
them directly to you but that is something you can hopefully determine on
your end) and no need for you to send email asking us to handle support
emails you have gotten.

One last thing, MXit support staff. I'm operating under the impression
that your support email distributes this email to the members of the
support team. If it does that in a round-robin (or other non-broadcast)
method please try to make sure that all members of the support team
understand the situation. Thank you.

Config settings for PIDGIN

2011-07-28 Thread Mauviel, Normand P
Classification: UNCLASSIFIED

I need to set the config as we would like to install Pidgin client to
our image and therefore create set entries.
In account we would like to populate the Protocol, Doamain and Resource
entry from the Basic TAB and also at the Advanced TAB populate the
connect port and empty File Transfer proxies and the Proxy TAB default
to no proxy.

Where can I do these?

Thanks for your help

Those are account properties and as such are defined in the accounts.xml
file. You can ship a mostly-configured accounts.xml file with your image
but you may need a placeholder username (as opposed to a blank one) since
I'm not sure what pidgin will do with an account without a username being
read from the file.

Your connection to the google talk server is being refused for some
reason. Can you connect to that host/port in your browser or via telnet?

Re: Antivirus Scan after file-transfer

2011-07-28 Thread Philippe VIALLE
Hi,

I work on antivirus and other IT security issues. AFAIK, if your antivirus
has been correctly installed and set up, it will scan any new file that is
being written on the HDD. Thus, any file transfer would be silently scanned,
no matter if the file came from an HTTP/FTP access or IM file transfer.

I would suggest you to scan the suspicious file using
www.virustotal.comanyway, just in case of.

Still, the most important is to have an antivirus up to date, with
full-patched softwares.

HTH.

Cheers,
