problemi con i plugin

2012-06-30 Thread assistenza

Buongiorno,

Cordiali saluti.

fonomo is a third party plugin, so it is not supported on this mailing
list. Moreover, the support URL
http://www.fonomo.com/software/pidgin.html on the Pidgin third party
plugins page appears to be broken. I would guess that the company has
gone out of business, although it might be a temporary failure of their
nameservers. (Requests for anything other than nameservers (glue
records) for that domain return [DNS] server failure. This includes
the master, SOA, record for the fonomo.com domain.)

If you are using XMPP, in particular Google Talk, you might want to see
whether Pidgin's own video support is suitable:

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.

Successful formula for MSN file transfers with Live Messenger users?

2012-06-30 Thread Mark Rousell
I've been a Pidgin user for several years and I am pretty sure I used to
be able to successfully carry out file transfers in both directions with
MSN Messenger/Live Messenger users. However, at some point file
transfers over the MSN protocol seem to have stopped working.

Currently when either side (Pidgin at my end, Windows Live Messenger at
the other end) tries to initiate a file transfer, nothing is seen at the
other end. It looks like the file transfer notification just isn't
getting through.

Does anyone have file transfers working over MSN in either direction? If
so, can you let me know your configuration please?

I've just finished a testing session and nothing I tried made any
difference.

Brief details: I'm running Pidgin 2.10.4 on Windows 7 Ultimate x64
behind a NAT router. Windows firewall is configured to allow unlimited
inward and outward access for Pidgin. I tested with UPnP both enabled
and disabled on the router, I tested with the various options for MSN
accounts in Pidgin (e.g. 'Use HTTP Method', 'Allow direct connections',
etc.) both enabled and disabled, and set my correct external IP in
Pidgin's Network settings. Nothing made any difference to MSN file
transfers.

Is it just me? Or am I missing something?

Thanks to anyone who has any ideas.

1) Install Dropbox
2) Copy the file into your Dropbox folder
3) Right click on the file, find the Dropbox menu item, choose Copy
Link or similar.

4) Copy the link into the clipboard.
5) Paste it into pidgin.

I realize this isn't quite what you're asking, but file transfers barely
work among the authorized clients in various network configurations,
third party clients don't seem to have a chance outside of ideal
configurations with a ton of luck.

Using a tool designed to transfer files rather than a tool designed to
transfer messages will generally yield better results across the board.
