In future, please reply-all to the support list so that other people are
able to help.

Since you're using dukgo.com you would have been receiving popup notices
about them shutting down their XMPP services over the past couple of
months.  https://duck.co/blog/post/4/xmpp-services-at-duckduckgo has a bit
more info about it.  You'll need to find another XMPP provider to be able
to continue using XMPP.

Also, the plugin supports only 4 statuses.
Often the Hangouts buddy status is "invisible", which is not mentioned.

True, but it also says "This cannot, however, be done on a per-buddy basis with the 
existing plugin"

I was wondering if anything changed since.

The reason that I believe that per-buddy priority customization is important is because 
-- especially with XMPP -- different clients and different servers set statuses 
differently.  For example, "extended away" may be set after either long or 
short inactivity time.

Help if You Can

Dear Pidgin,

  I'm trying to help a family member get reconnected using Pidgin with
AIM.  She has been using Pidgin for a number of years with no difficulty.

  She received this message the other day:  Error requesting
https://api.oscar.aol.com/aim/startOSCARSession: Unable to connect to
api.oscar.aol.com: SSL Handshake Failed

  I had her update her Pidgin to the 2.12.0 version and she tells me it did
not fix the issue.

  What does this mean, please?  I have searched and searched for answers to
her issue but everything is 8 years old or more
