One more difficulty ..

2019-03-30 Thread Angel

Hello again Eion,
Now that I have the program running again, things
in menus are greyed out, and buddies show as
offline, even when we are chatting. I cannot set
the font face, foreground color, background
color, etc. The default formatting under
Preferences:Conversations shows the look I want,
but it doesn't show in the chat window,.

And how do I get my buddies to show up as online?
Do I have to re-establish their connection to me?

Thank you, yet again, for all your help.

Thank you for the link. Here's what I did:
Closed Pidgin completely
Downloaded these two files to folder on desktop
libicyque.dll
libjson-glib-1.0.dll
Opened Windows Explorer
Draged libicyque.dll into C:\Program Files (x86)\Pidgin\plugins\ folder
Draged libjson-glib-1.0.dll to C:\Program
Files (x86)\Pidgin\ (not plugins!) folder

Restarted Pidgin
No joy. Still getting "unable to connect to BOS server. Connection refused"
Starting "Panic Mode"!

Hi there,
You probably got a message from the ICQ
servers near the end of last year that said
they were shutting down the old service and
that you'd need to move to their new
one? There's a new plugin that connects to
the new protocol and replaces the existing one in Pidgin:

Pidgin is simply repeating the message that icq.net sent.

You will need to ask icq.net's operators, but rate limiting generally
means that there have been excessive numbers of attempts to do
something, and a proportion of those are being rejected without
attempting to process them further than an immediate rejection.
