Help with pidgin
Hello Pidgin Team! I am having trouble with the pidgin set up, as most of my contacts appear as offline all the time. I tried to delete it and re-install it but the problem persists. Also, by trying to fix this, I have changed the color, letter set up and don't know how to correct this. I appreciate your help very much and look forward to your instructions. Help with Pidgin Favourites.
Is there some way to have my favourite contacts in a group, without removing them from an existing group? On the client I can create a group called 'Favourites', but I can't add a contact to this group without removing them from some other group. If the protocol in question supports having a buddy in more than one group (I know XMPP does this, and I believe some others do) then you should simply be able to add the person to the new group in pidgin a second time to do this. Short of that a plugin could be written to create a fake Favorites group with dummy entries for the favorite buddies which aren't actually stored on the server, etc. -Etan ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? Re: Help on Pidgin defect
Dear all, any chance to fix the MSN HTTP method bugs (tracked in tickets #3126 and #7325)? I'm very happy to see the 2.7.5 available, but unfortunately there's no milestone set for the two tickets.. Without these fixes, I'm not able to use pidgin from my company.. And this affects all the other users who uses Pidgin with a proxy which allows HTTP method only.. Please let me know.. Cheers, Lorenzo 2010/7/8 Lorenzo Paglialonga lorenzo.paglialo...@gmail.com Dear all, I'm a very happy Pidgin user and first of all I want to thank you for all the time you spent on this project to allow us to use this excellent IM client. I'm dropping you this email to ask for your help for a Pidgin defect. In fact on this month I move to another company and I found in this new company MSN is able to work only though HTTP method. From the bug track I found there are 2 defects (Ticket #3126 and Ticket #7325) concerned with my trouble and assigned to khc; unfortunately there is no milestone set for them. For this reason I was forced to use Windows Live Messenger ( :-( ), even if I really like very much Pidgin.. My question is: according with the time you think to work on Pidgin, do you think you'll be able to fix this defect in the few next releases? From the roadmap on the Pidgin web site I see neither in the version 2.7.2 nor in the 2.8 nor in the 3.0 the fix for this bug is planned.. I'm sorry to disturb you and I hope you'll be able to help me.. Thank you again for your huge effort on Pidgin. Cheers, Lorenzo ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? Would the buddy pounce have something to do with this issue?* It depends on how Olark exposes visitors to the operator, but an auto-reply message might work (you'd want to set it to Auto-reply when away). I don't recall the exact specifics of how that setting interacts with an *on-going* conversation (i.e. the active one), and how it works with XMPP (which does not have protocol-level auto-reply messages), so you'd want to experiment with it. 2. *I use Pidgin to communicate with any visitor to my website. I've been trying to get this done, due to having an over eager friend that likes talking every five minutes, and I would like to talk to one person in particular. The times I've tried talking with people online while under the invisible status have ended up with the program telling me that if I wish to talk to people, then to change my status to active. I'd understand if it's not able to be done, but if there is any possible way, then I'd gladly like to know =) I assume that the protocol you're using is MSN, in which case, upgrading to the latest version (2.6.2) will allow you talk to people while you're invisible. -D ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? Help with Pidgin graphics
Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me. I've searched the help pages on the website, and I can't seem to find any answers. I upgraded to the newest version of Pidgin, as well as changed some administration profiles around on Windows (XP). Now, when I run Pidgin, none of my graphics are visible - the toolbar on the right corner shows a white box with a red X, as does all my buddies, my status, my avatar. And in the toolbar in Pidgin, there are icons missing in the dropdowns as well. I tried locating the folders on my C: drive, but I don't really know what I'm looking for, and when I uninstall and reinstall Pidgin the icons are still missing. Any help offered would be much appreciated!! Thank you so much, Susan ___ Support mailing list Support@pidgin.im http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support

It sounds like your GTK+ runtime is messed up. Try uninstalling the GTK+ runtime and reinstalling it. A standalone GTK+ runtime installer is available from the downloads section of pidgin's sourceforge site (http://sf.net/projects/pidgin). -D ___ Support mailing list Support@pidgin.im http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support
