RE: Reconnecting
OK, I’m still missing some clue here. I downloaded that DLL and replaced it in \Program Files (x86)\Pidgin\plugins (after making sure that was the only copy anywhere). No change. Rebooted; no change. Downloaded and reinstalled the latest version of the entire plugin; no change. What have I missed here? BTW, the link on https://eion.robbmob.com/ to https://eion.robbmob.com/libskypeweb-debug.dll is 404. Re: Reconnecting
Hi Phil, The intermediate cert is needed due to a quirk of the SSL connection, only on the first connect to the server will it send the intermediate cert, subsequent connections it expects you to cache the intermediate. Due to the way Pidgin's SSL system works, it doesn't cache the intermediate, so it needs to be installed separately. With the "use alternate auth" in the Skype plugin, thats not just for if you're using 2FA, but works great for regular auth too. I'll be making it on by default in the next release. RE: Reconnecting
Thanks. Why am I installing intermediates? I should just need the root, and installing an intermediate that isn’t needed is a good way to get into trouble later on when the intermediate gets renewed on the server, but I have an expired, older copy. I don’t use 2FA on Skype, but I should. I don’t use it enough/care about it enough to have done so. (I used to use it more, then they destroyed the UI, and now it’s usually easier to use something else.) I will tinker. Installing latest Hangouts plugin seems easiest.
